You are the master of abstract “landscape” photography, Michael. Your imagination is beyond the next level. Thank you so much for continuing to provide us with your insight. Your work is spectacular!!
The NYC High Line is one of my favorite walks for photography. The reflections in the windows are always changing and make for interesting abstracts. The time-lapse of the window reflection and cloud movement was quite novel and one I will be experimenting with. Enjoyed the video.
You might enjoy photographing The Vessel next time-the reflections off it are fantastic especially when people are in them-it can look surreal. I liked all the photos, I’m here from Fototrippers channel. Subscribing.
The vertical image with the clouds swirling above is incredible, but I’ll be honest, the timelapses are my favorite… those really took my breath away. All of them - Amazing! 🤩
Never seen this channel & it came up as a suggestion. So thought "Ah why not have a look". Worst thing that can happen is I waste a few seconds of my life & move on". With that calming voice - I was hooked, stayed to the end, liked & subscribed.
My goodness! It really doesn't get any better than this. If I could come up with a tiny, tiny fraction of what you're creating here, I'd consider myself successful. Thanks for the inspiration, Michael!
Hello, I discovered your bideos this week and I am completely enchanted by your look. I thought I saw certain landscapes wrong and I realized that I didn't. I am very happy and admired.❤❤❤❤
Brilliant video Michael and absolutely fantastic photos it's hard to pick a favourite maby this one you have on the preview for the video. Thank you for sharing your video
The building with the semi-transparent shell is called The Shed. Smart-ass mode off 🙂 Love your videos! I have no favourite, i like them all. I love New York City!
What an Amazing video. Talk about inspiring! Next level photo's, absolutely stunning image's from out of nowhere, imagination plus. Love all of your content, but found this one exceptional. 😊
My favourite photo is the inversion that has the Triangle at the bottom. I like it because the Triangle appears encapsulated within the frame of the building. I've a street photography trip into London planned in the next few days. I will be looking for opportunities to use the Tele Lens instead of the 50mm. Thank you for posting.
I’ve been several times in NYC but I’ve never thought about this “kind” of photography, I was always focused on sunsets , night cityscapes or light trails. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely wonderful video. New York City is a photography wonderland and you have captured it so beautifully! The time-lapse of the reflection turned out great, almost like an ocean behind the building.
Fantastic shots and very inspiring. I have taken these types of shots before but this is a whole other level. Kudos to you. I will be taking a trip to a city at the end of the week and will try some of these techniques out, including some time lapse.
I am torn between the building and clouds image, and that last reflection as my favorite. I do like reflections in my own work, but this is next level in terms of reflection creativity
Hi Michael, thank you for sharing this inspirational vid and your thought process on cityscapes! I really like the diagonal in number 7 and the "'new tech/old school" separation between the bottom and top of the picture. 💪🏻🙂
Your older Flatiron shots as well as the shot at 8:29 are my personal favorites, though there are some other really great ones also. Almost makes me wish I lived closer to a big city to try some of these ideas out for myself!
Wonderful video and I really appreciate your approach. It gives me some great ideas for creating some urban images. Hard to choose a favorite, but that last image was quite striking.
Lots of great images and hard to pick a favorite! I really liked 5, 6 and 8. The videos gave me some really interesting ideas to play with in St Louis. Thank you!
I could not pick a favorite. They all were fantastic! Mike, I think you are my favorite photographer or at least top five. You and I are similar in that we both like taking photos of different things.
Wow, from a creative perspective this is so inspiring, love all of the photo's you took. Makes me want to go out in the city and take pictures. I'd love to see how you edit some of these photo's
I like the second photograph from the right at the bottom on the overview. The form, shape and colours of the reflected sand coloured building reminds me of the organic architecture of the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi.
3:39 For reference, take a look at Magnum photographer Sabine Hornig and her work, for example "From Day and Night. 2021." This instantly reminded me of her work.
Really enjoyed seeing you in a different environment. And how your process is still very similar. Also, telephoto for the win! Absolutely love my 100-400. And just recently upgraded to the RF100-500. You're videos are the reason I got more and more into telephoto! Picking out far away details, abstract images and even close up macro type shots. Opened up a whole new world for me.
Thanks, this gave me so many ideas. I love nearly all the images I feel your pain with the Flat Iron building travelled there last May from Australia to see the same horrible scaffolding!
What's your recording and post processing setup for audio? Your videos sound so much better than anything else in this genre on TH-cam, and this is true both for narration and on location
Hey, thanks! I was using a Tascam Lav mic for the in-field stuff, and then I do voiceovers with the Audio Technica At2020 back in my office with decent acoustics.
I am not much of a city girl, but this video really caused me to open my mind a bit more to it. Thanks for sharing. Also, I loved that last photo you shared and the time lapse of the reflections on the buildings. 👍
Relaxing video with amazing photography,as always! Congratulations I would love to hear your opinion about the tamron 28-200mm that you used for the video if you could please!
Your images are great, they remind me of my many walks in San Francisco shooting reflections of buildings like the Bank of America building. I was a student in the early 1970,s and could only afford B&W film, but my images are similar to what you created in NY. Great memories. Mike
Very inspirational Michael! I love the 9-piece image. This style I have to try out in my hometown. Just a few glass fasads but who knows what shows up when exploring! 👍
Absolutely killing it. I wish I did half as good in Boston lol. Nerd question though. How was the Sirui tripod vs your usual induro? I need to replace my ST124 and I’m curious which one you’re liking more.
Thanks so much, Louis; honestly, I was not impressed with the mini Sirui Tripod. It broke within a few months of purchase, and my A1 Fell and cracked the screen. Maybe I got a flawed model. I bought a Leofoto afterward and have had much better luck with it so far.
@@MichaelShainblum I’m also not impressed with my Sirui ST124. It’s had issues since the beginning and I’m ready to replace it. I’ll look into the leofoto! Sorry your A1 got a cracked screen. That would make me sob uncontrollably if my A7IV got hurt. Cheers!
Yeah it's been cracked for like 7-8 months now haha, I got the leofoto LS-324C for stills and then the LS-224 for hiking and vlogging.@@louisburley1597
@@MichaelShainblum sweet! I’ll use your affiliate link to snag it. I appreciate you. This channel needs 1M subs. Yours and Nick Page’s inspires me to just get out there and take photos.
Maybe your best ever YT video. I loved it. So creative and inspiring I can't wait to get out and try this (I live in Shanghai - an incredible place for this type of photography). Next to last shot at 11:16 was my favourite (the 'gothic' green and gold building you did a timelapse of).
I was wondering if you have any further thoughts on the Flat Iron building, perhaps being photographed with the scaffolding etc not only for the added geometry but as documentation of the architecture building process as it's not likely to be seen again for a number of years if ever. Thoughts?
Frankly, it's very beautiful and the good control of your camera makes you take good pictures. A question: are the 200mm photos of close-ups of the facade cropped in post-processing? Thank you and good luck. Franchement c’est très beau et la bonne maîtrise de votre appareil photo vous fait faire de bons clichés. Une question : les photos à 200mm de plans rapprochés de façade sont-elles recadrées en post-traitement. Merci et bonne continuation.
Michael, off subject question for you if you don't mind. Headed to Death Valley Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in a month. May I enquire if it's better to shoot during sunup and sundown? Vice during mid day which I assume is harsh. Thank you sir and lo e your work!
You are the master of abstract “landscape” photography, Michael. Your imagination is beyond the next level. Thank you so much for continuing to provide us with your insight. Your work is spectacular!!
That flatiron image with the clouds is world class Michael!
Thanks so much!
Amazing images. I think my fav is the one where the weird shape building looks like a waterfall-4:10 into the vid. Very cool.
The NYC High Line is one of my favorite walks for photography. The reflections in the windows are always changing and make for interesting abstracts. The time-lapse of the window reflection and cloud movement was quite novel and one I will be experimenting with. Enjoyed the video.
Man! Michael! Wowwww! This presentation has inspired me in a major way! You never cease to utterly blow me away!! Great work, dude!!
I am so glad to hear that, John; thank you so much for the kind words!
The v-shape/triangle shot is spectacular. I'm fascinated by how unique each of these reflections stand out when zoomed in. Really enjoyed watching!
I am so glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
It's an amazing video as always! I really like your channel and it is one of my favorites. Thank you for sharing such good content.
Love these photos so much! Couldn’t possibly pick one as they are all amazing!❤️
I'm sensing Salvador Dali in the melted building reflections. Beautiful!
I love that, thanks so much!
Excellent video and terrific images. Really creative work, thanks for putting it up. It’s given me some inspiration and ideas.
You might enjoy photographing The Vessel next time-the reflections off it are fantastic especially when people are in them-it can look surreal. I liked all the photos, I’m here from Fototrippers channel. Subscribing.

Very nice and artistic. You opened my eyes to new possibilities. Thank you!
Amazing creativity.. very inspiring.. thanks for sharing 🙏🏽
Ideas galore! Thanks.
Impossible to pick a favorite! They all are fantastic! Thanks for taking me along!!
My favorites were #8, followed by 18, then 4. So a great perspective to "see" the artwork that most likely is unseen by people everyday.
Thank you Michael for another great video!! So many great photos!! Thank you for sharing so many great the ideas when visiting cities!
The reflections are soooooo beautiful !!!. Impressive portfolio, Michael. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your creative experience!
Epic video bro, look forward to the next one 💪🙌
My goodness! It really doesn't get any better than this. If I could come up with a tiny, tiny fraction of what you're creating here, I'd consider myself successful. Thanks for the inspiration, Michael!
My favourite has to be number 9 the bright blue sky combined with such a clean composition really a treat for my eyes ! amazing images all around !
How can I choose a favourite? Each one is unique. Now I am ready to use your inspiration and apply it to a local city. Thank you Michael !
Great shots! 4 and 12 are my favorites but sill all of them are awesome!
Love this video, you’ve got so much creativity I’m definitely going to explore this technique more often now.

Hi Michael Love the time lapse of the people crossing and the traffic! Superb!
Stunning ❤❤❤❤

Some stunning abstracts Michael
Super work Buddy !! Such incredible images that show how our imagination is all that can stop us from seeing such abstracts !! Bravo !!
Thanks so much Darren!
No, no, don't make me pick a favorite! Well, okay, today I'll pick #8 and will sign off before I change my mind. All gems!
love how much thought & effort goes into each shot that you take, Michael !! keep inspiring...
No way to pick a favorite-they are all outstanding! Thanks for the tips on creativity. Can’t wait to try.
My favorite No. 9.
Great stuff Michael.

I like them all! Very different, imaginative.....and it works really well. Thank you.
Your videos are always deeply inspiring
Absolutely wonderful video. New York City is a photography wonderland and you have captured it so beautifully!
The time-lapse of the reflection turned out great, almost like an ocean behind the building.
Showing your versatility. Nice job!!
8 was my favourite!!! I feel so inspired from this discovery of photography ideas! Great work on this!
Nice shots as always. Number 9 is my favorite. But the abstract shots are also very nice. :)
Great work!!

Can't pick just one. First I like them all ... then I'll winnow it down to #'s 4, 8 and 12....The colors are so bright and abstract
Your older Flatiron shots as well as the shot at 8:29 are my personal favorites, though there are some other really great ones also. Almost makes me wish I lived closer to a big city to try some of these ideas out for myself!

7 and 17 for me 👍🏼 👌🏼 great work mate
A timelapse of the cloud movement being reflected in a building?! Only you can think of it. It was brilliant!!!
The HIGHLINE is one of my favorite places to shoot.
I am not much of a city girl, but this video really caused me to open my mind a bit more to it. Thanks for sharing. Also, I loved that last photo you shared and the time lapse of the reflections on the buildings. 👍
Great video Michael, Really enjoyed watching it how do you find the 28-200mm with A1 any real problems 🙏
Nice to see the real Michael not the character in photo tripper this week.
I just love these images! Choosing one would be impossible. Your creativity is so inspiring. :)
