Volvo C30. In case you havent noticed, small cars are in. High gas prices and crowded roads have reopened Americas eyes to the charms of driving small. Now Volvo is getting in on the action with the C30, a progressively styled hatchback that brings premium car features to the compact car segment.
Welcome to our comprehensive Kelley Blue Book review of the Volvo C30.
The C30 may be the smallest and the least expensive Volvo available but that doesnt mean its cheap. A host of exterior colors, interior themes and high-end options help the C30 prove that the term premium small car isnt an oxymoron. For more new car reviews, interviews and automotive news visit www.kbb.com today.

I have a 2008 C30, 11 years and 150,000 miles later, it is by far the best car I’ve ever owned and I’m 61 years old. It’s plenty fast, loads of torque, comfortable, reliable and the sound system still sounds great. It’s cost me about $3000 in non-scheduled maintenance costs, which was mostly new front axles at about 140,000 miles. And I love its looks, still.

Many reviews back then preferred the Mini and GTI. Well now that over a decade has passed, most of those Minis and GTIs have pretty much fallen apart, while the C30s have held up beautifully. Reviewers missed one of the best things about them: BUILD QUALITY!

I've taken the C30 out twice now on test drives and here are my observations:
    Seats - extremely comfortable
Instrument Cluster (gauges) - simple, easy to look at and not straining on the eyes
" (centre console) - didn't like the design on the first look, 2nd test drive, was more comfortable with it
Engine Power - More than powerful enough if you want to have some fun
Cabin Noise - City (very quiet), Highway, little bit of noice, but not so much that it's annoying

I couldn't find one of these when I was looking, but I DID find an 05' S40t5 that's an absolute blast. It's a P1 and loaded. Leather, rear spoiler, front splitter, power front seats, CD Changer, sunroof, 5 speed auto w/man shift mode, split folding rear seats (they actually flip TWICE!), carpeted floor mats, and using the key fob, i can lower ALL windows by pressing the unlock button....before ever getting in the car. 94k miles for $2800. ....a bonafide STEAL! Needless to say, I'm quite pleased... despite not finding the C30 that I sought originally.

Added this to another review vid already: You've got to love how Americans still talk about "fuel economy" and "times of high gas prices" reviewing a car with a 2.5 l engine and over 200 hp.
This is not supposed to be "US hate" or anything, but I've just ordered a C 30. I'ts going to be a 1.6 D DRIVe - 1.6 l Diesel engine, 110 hp and a "fuel economy" of 67 mpg... that's what we call low consumption nowadays in Europe. Sadly, that model's not even available in the US....

I'm sure that you all know that the chinese automaker Geely bought Volvo recently. People, don't freak out Volvo will still be made in Sweden and in Belgium and have its own board of directors so it will be Volvo's own thinking. And Geely will only be reciving parts and technologes from Volvo, not the other way around.

    1) Who said that I was comparing Imperial gallons to US gallons? Since I come from continental Europe and we don't use gallons at all I was merely saving you the trouble to calculate what 3.5 litres per 100 kilometres would mean if you expressed it in mpg. And yes, I know the difference, andy yes again, I used US gallons.
    2) I was never talking about the toxicity of anything. If you insist on finding new comparisons of things I never referred to: feel free, it's amusing by now!

1:06 I don't know is this is a US/UK translation issue, but here 'pavement' means 'sidewalk'. Wondering a) why you're driving on the sidewalk and b) what the bumps that need smoothing out on it are.

By the way, I am not calling you names. I am stating the fact. Who in the right mind would compare mpg in petrol to mpg in diesel? Who is the least bit educated would equate an Imperial galleon to a US galleon? NOx is not the same as CO2. Are you trying to say 1g of NOx is same as 1 g of CO2? For one, NOx have much higher toxicity than CO2. Why did't you compare H2O to NOx then? I am not going to compare apples to oranges. If these are not not stupid comments, then what is?

  • @Chemicalkinetics
    @Chemicalkinetics 15 ปีที่แล้ว

You were the one who compare mpg of a diesel engine to mpg of a petrol engine. You cannot directly compare a kilogram of petrol to a kg of diesel to a kg of coal.
First, I said petrol engines emit more NOx. Then you argue petrol engines emit more CO2. Then I said NOx are toxic. You now argue that you did not say anything about toxicity. Yes, I know. That is the point. You didnt account for toxicity. These engines use different fuels and their mpg numbers cannot be directly compared.
