    • @EveningChampion
      @EveningChampion 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Toxic_Turtle 2 that depends on how serious you are and what is your budget. But for beginners i would recommend you buying a second hand guitar worth around $300-$400, around that price range for a second hand guitar would mean that guitar would be priced at 1k-1.5k if brand new, then if your set with your budget test it out if it fits your size, some guitar bodies are bigger than other so it's also worth to test out your guitar. So conclusion, pick a price point and test your guitar if it fits you. Hope that helps you.

Hey Marty, first let me THANK YOU!
I am a 31 year drummer, I also play keys, bass, sax, trumpet and sing. Guitar had been a fear musically almost for me. Seems very intimidating. I have been diagnosed with Heart failure and am waiting on a heart transplant. loving in Albuquerque, and now have had to relocate to Detroit for 8-9 months for the Transplant I could not bring any equipment with me. This killed me as a life long touring musician. Lucky I have never had a job and only played drums my whole life for work. I decided since I am away from home and none of my own equipment here, I hit guitar center and got me a sweet little acoustic/electric to finally learn on. Your series has helped me first to get over my fears and get started. I am on lesson 5 at the moment and I feel very confident in the next 9 months that I will be able to add guitar to my arsenal. So thank you.
    Your humble student,
    Vicente

you are one of my youtube teachers. I practice everyday 1-2 hours. after 1 and half month I can switch chords in time for rhythm. memorized 20+ chords. do perfect Bminor without mute sound and can play around 10 songs. (still cant do F7 or Fm and mute strum tho XD)
just wanna share progress and courage with fellow beginners :)

Funny that you mention B minor. I can play the chord, I just can't switch to b minor from other chords. It's so annoying, a friend of mine wants to play Cornerstone and I simply can't do it.

Funny just when I was wondering how to do the strumming after learning the 6 chords I found this video of you showing me. I will be ever grateful if after this CORONO-Times, I am able to actually play the guitar... at least some songs. This is my goal... At least this time of social distancing I get to learn a wonderful new thing whit your videos... PLAYING THE GUITAR.... one day they will ask me what did you do in England when the corona virus happened... and I will say: I LEARNED how to play the GUITAR with MARTY...

Hello Marty. Im loving your lessons. I bought my guitar nearly 20 years ago and have never played it, but you (along with coronavirus self isolation) have inspired me to start. I'm a week into it now and it's the thing I'm most excited about for the day ahead when I get out of bed.
I can't get the link for the "Easy Acoustic Songs" Playlist to work at the end of the video. The "buying your 1st guitar" link works fine though. Am I doing something wrong or has the link been taken down?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! I've been learning how to play different songs from you for about a month now, but the moment I noticed anything that involved a difficult pattern, or a single up strum for that matter, I would immediately click off the video. Not because I did not think the video was bad, but because I thought it was impossible for me to learn how to strum in a pattern. This video has helped me realize that it is not impossible and that I can learn. Seriously, thank you so much. I literally only trust you to teach me how to play guitar. I am sure that there are other great teachers out there on TH-cam, but I can know for damn sure that if I am watching a Marty Music video, it is going to be extremely high in quality. That assurance is extremely great to have when wanting to learn something. I am just now learning how to strum, so I am sure it will be a minute before I begin learning entire songs rather than just portions of them, but at least I know that because of Marty Music, I will get there eventually. I am sure you get comments like this all of this time, and I am not sure if this one will even reach you, but I still want to sincerely express to you my gratitude to you for not only everything that I have already learned from you, but for the things that I will learn from you in the future. Once again, for the final time, thank you!!!!!!!!!

My neighbour just heard me playing 'video games' and it was the first time I had hit the strumming and notes bang on , i just went for it and it just clicked , he shouted me from his garden as my door was open at the time , asked if that was me playing i said yes , he then told me he has been playing for 15 years, we had a short conversation where I told him I had been given an acoustic guitar and I had been watching a guy on TH-cam on beginner lessons , he said "MARTY SHWARTZ ??" 😂 . couldn't believe it !! Your more popular than I think you know , I live in Scotland 😂 thanks man your great and have given me the go to actually stick with learning and I'm loving it !!

Marty I’ve been messing with the guitar for a few years off and on. I’ve practiced some solo stuff but never any rhythm really. I did 3 three minutes sessions. The progress from that alone was big. This first three days has been fun. I’m going for forty days of strumming practice. In that time I’m sure I’ll learn a song or two. I’ve yet to learn a full song because of course the strumming…campfire here I come 🔥 😂

Hey dude. that is going to come with practice man. i the EXACT same problems when i started and use to think I would NEVER get it down. But eventually it all flows better. The pic thing, youll always kinda play around with it in your hand. The singing while strumming though, that will come with practice. practice, practice, practice. Im new to the guitar, too. Been playing 2 years this Christmas. WAY better than I thought i would be at this time. Singing and strumming just comes to you. It just does. Hang in there. I still practice with my pick though, different thicknesses, holding it differently. I still work on my strumming with it, hence why im here. Anyway though. Hope my little bit of knowledge (or opinion) helps. Take Care and KEEP PRACTICING

Johnathon Wolf I understand this is a year old thread but to help with singing and playing at the same time, find the word the chord changes on and memorise that as the chord change instead of counting the beat in your head, this also kinda works for playing single note sections. If you work out which note falls on which word then hopefully that’ll help you keep rhythm and time.

I did all the beginning lessons and just did this one and I’m actually catching on and it’s beginning to make sense. I’ve picked up the guitar a handful of times in my life and never could figure it out. But this makes it simple and the natural progression is flawless.

Marty, I just started playing guitar and you have helped me so much, all of my friends who have been playing guitar for years are shocked at my progression for just a few days! They are so impressed and I have to thank you, and one other channel!!!! It’s so much fun to learn by chords than by memorizing scales and notes. I don’t know if you do specific song tutorials but I would love if you did a tutorial of Taylor swifts acoustic version of dancing with our hands tied. That would just be amazing! I have found some videos but they seem kind of advanced. If you could do a tutorial with a simplified version that would be so cool! Thank you so much if you ever even see this:)

I just started guitar tricks on Monday but definitely buying your beginner course!!! Having a combination of teachers will benefit an old guy like me. Although I do come from a musical family (father was professional musician in the 60s, brother is a piano prodigy, sisters play violin and youngest brother plays guitar also.) I finally have the time to learn

    Hey Marty!
Thanks a lot for this lesson. I''m really new to guitar and found your videos when I was looking up how to play 'Dust in the Wind'. I already tend to favor finger picking over strumming which means I neglect strumming practice ;-) These lessons will become a part of my daily practice sessions! I do like your teaching style and am enjoying your videos. Keep up the good work!

I started learning guitar from my boyfriend many years ago when I was a teenager. But after we broke up, it sort of fell by the wayside. I stumbled across your videos and figured I'd give you a shot. I gotta say, I'm so glad I did. I remembered most of my chords, though my bar chords weren't exactly crystal clear. The best part is learning these strumming patterns. I always felt self conscious about that. Thanks for posting these lessons!!
