    Just a friendly reminder that if you start your comment with "We..." like you speak on behalf of everyone, it's likely not going to end up well for you on my channel and we might miss out on your pearls of wisdom going forward. Think twice. Cheerio.

    The Subaru Brumbies had a cult following for reason and the cherry equivalent Ute would bring something similar to the market

      I'm not familiar with that Subaru model mate, but completely agree - there would be a market for that

    Chery need to do their research in relation to sales in areas where they can provide service. It will be a very major city market. Are those major cities wanting to buy a Chery Ute? It's an interesting conundrum. Whereas the upcoming Kia ute has an established service base. Pricing comparisons will be interesting. Thank Dimitri!

      I think they DO their research, that's the point of watching foreign (similar) markets. Will they bring it here? No idea. Would it make some sense to set it as a test and see if it flies, sure, why not - they brought Omoda 5 here while the market was flooded with small 5-seater SUVs and apparently statistically it's off to a decent start for them... 🤷‍♀️

    The more utes/competition, the better. And yes, it would be nice to have a ute without a ladder frame, as driving around on our garbage roads shakes the hell out of ladder frame vehicles .
    JAC utes are to drop a ute in OZ by the end of the year, and they have a website up already - it's worth a look.

      I always say - the more competition the better, for sure. But as someone else said, the biggest problem is the perception of Chery as a brand on our market - not very masculine or bogan-friendly - is the highest detriment to them trying to release anything that is designed to appeal to that more masculine market, rather than an edgy trendy youngsters buying Omoda 5.

    I think GWM Cannon fills that market though. Their Utes seem to be able to tow 3 tons without an issue from what i've seen.
    So I don't think people would buy a Cherry Ute if they could get a Cannon for half the price of a Hilux/Ford

      I think it's all about Chery proposition in terms of features and pricing. Imagine a cheaper (or comparably priced) but softer and more comfortable to ride unibody Ute that someone would take for city driving, rather than to load up like a tipper? I think it'd compete quite nicely with Cannon.

    I like the idea of a unibody ute coming to Australia and it is something I would consider for myself as I don’t need to carry heavy loads but I appreciate their large volume carrying capacity. However, I feel Australian motor journalists would overly criticise a unibody ute’s reduced payload and off road performance compared with current full frame utes. Also, and quite importantly, the name Cherry isn’t a very masculine name and would be off-putting for many potential male ute buyers.

      Yep I agree on all points mate. Brand name is a big problem. Perception by bogans is a big problem that only can be defeated by time on the market and attractive price tag even bogans would accept...

    I've been hoping, for a long time, that Subaru release a model with 2.5t towing capacity and with a diesel (gruntier than the deceased 2L diesel), Maybe Chery will fill that gap?

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  หลายเดือนก่อน

      They might try, but let's not fool ourselves - they are no Subaru in terms of longevity on the market and reliability (that we'd know about).
