  • Today I build a mahogany table for our Great Loop boat! Watch as I create a mahogany and basswood boat table (no holly for accent wood available) complete with an ebony, maple, and purpleheart compass inlay. It is finished in a UV-resistant clear table epoxy (ClearCast 7050). Follow the process from shop to boat!

    ClearCast 7050 description:
This epoxy resin is designed for small castings and thin coatings of wood, metals, plastics, stone, tile, jewelry and artwork This is a 2:1 mix ratio by weight or volume. Once cured this epoxy exhibits a clear, high gloss, rigid, finish. Best of all this resin contains Hal's and a UV absorber - which will keep your art work from yellowing!

I’m going to go check on the kegerator in the wood shop to make sure it’s ok while you are gone. Lol.

DON'T SELL WITNESS WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL TABLE! Take the table back home with you and repurpose it as a coffee table! Perhaps you can offer to make a replacement one for the new owners? Your videos have been incredible! Thanks for sharing your great loop journey!

Awww. Thank you so much. It is sentimental to let it go with the boat but I figured I’d make another for whatever circumstance comes next.

Very nice job, the table looks so much better. Making the boat yours is such a rewarding thing. I have done several boat projects and always look at them and enjoy the improvements ( well in my mind they are improvements )

Looks beautiful. We had a trial of a time coming up with a table for our pilothouse. There is a table that came with some of these boats but even after attempting to purchase one, it arrived too damaged to use. I ended up just using a piece of butcherblock from home depot that I sanded and sealed and called it good. Yours is much prettier.

I reached out to several places to make a custom table just because I thought I didn’t have time to make this but never heard back. I see a post loop business idea!

Great job on the table top. Must be tough leaving behind such a well equipped workshop. Everything you need to make the boat interior like home. That table saw is industrial size. Is it a Laguna or Sawstop?

Sawstop. It’s the contractor saw but I built a large mobile base with storage for it.

Lovely table! Nice work, interesting to learn good tips for removing bubbles and using an old credit card to apply the epoxy.Did you leave all those fabulous tools in your house when you left? Looks like a well-equipped workshop. Enjoyed the video. The table will elevate the decor of WITNESS for certain!

Thanks! Yeah, no shop on the boat so I’ve had to scale back on what tools are reasonable to have aboard. Getting by though.

I absolutely love boating, and I love wood work just as much. Thankfully I don’t have a shop as nice as yours. If I did , I don’t know if I’d make it to the water often. Great workmanship.

Wow you will not have this wood working equipment on the boat...Peter 3:15 - But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. But respond with gentleness and respect. Great demonstration....so beautiful.
