Yes. Very conveniently the West and India perpetually forgets (or purposely ignores) the fact that during food shortages, they had blockaded China and refused to allow Mao to arrange rice imports. And during that time the Soviet Union did not have either the surplus nor the infrastructure to make mass food transports. Instead these guys perpetually spread the propaganda that Mao murdered 80 million people deliberately. (The real figure is thought to be 14 million).
And because of this experience, Chinese people throughout the western countries during Covid were inconvenienced but not starving and complaining like the rest of society. Why? Because of what our parents and grandparents have experienced during the famine back in China. True, as a child, I remember seeing Chinese people literally living on water and they look so poor. As young as I was, it saddened me deeply. Not knowing they were attack and their country was destroyed. I believe when you are a decent group of people with good souls, no evil will destroy you. My people the Africans may have all their faults but in reality, we are good People at heart. We’re welcoming and very hospitable people. We treat strangers very well because it is our tradition to do so and by doing so, when those people go back home , we hope that they’ll speak the truth about us and spread the joy of being among us. My continent has build any of the so called rich countries but they have done nothing to assist Africa except exploit the resources of the continent while harming my people. No African wants to marry a farmer or be onebp because African society frowns on it, yet these are the people who grow our food. Africans don't want to work hard on a farm, they want to party and dress to kill in the latest designer gear..... The Chinese are a different breed altogether, extremely hardworking, reliable, efficient and determined. These are attributes you find in some Africans like Zimbabwe, nigeria etc, but they are a very small minority. We must stop looking down on farmers and stop worshipping other professions to the detriment of agriculture ,otherwise we are doomed to fail. Food doesn't come by just talking and wishing, you have to get your hand dirty. After all diamonds come from dirt, yet we covet them after they have been processed.
Thank you, I was just about to comment on the same issue. Africa has the most land mass on the planet, it doesn’t make sense for any African country to import food from anywhere. Soon simple terms, Africans are either too proud or are just lazy to get involved into farming. I’ve always wonder as too why Africa wouldn’t use their lands to feed their owns people, it’s ridiculous to waste the country’s resources to make foreign countries richer when the go could invest in farming machines for the farmers. The worst thing some African leaders are now doing is selling the countries to Arabs and others as if it’s their personal property. This has got to stop or Africans will become homeless on their own continent. I am grateful that China and Russia have decided to assist sensible African leaders who are putting their countries and citizens first.

Hybrid crops are not that great. Farmers have to keep buying seeds instead of producing on their own. Zambia used to be the bread basket of Africa. They were growing plenty of crops to feed the population, but has not recovered from land redistribution. Hopefully they get better now. Rice is not a traditional crop in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe must be clear to keep away from blindly trusting in the sweet talks of the politicians.
