Niche.com ranked Clayton, North Carolina the #1 place to live in Johnston County. So what makes this town of just under 30,000 people so great? From it's affordability to its accessibility; its economic growth and its community pride; I break it all down so you can decide for yourself.
Considering a move to the Triangle region of North Carolina? I'd Love to Connect!

When I-540 opens in the Fall of 2024 the growth will explode in Johnston County.

Moved to Clayton from Southern CA. It's exceeded my expectations by a mile; wonderful community.
The few compromises (lack of convenience and fewer retail options) are well worth the trade off for lower cost of living, less crime, open space, and friendly neighbors.

Thank you for contributing that! I realized I called the video pros and cons, but I never mentioned any cons. I agree that the biggest con would be that Clayton is a little isolated and doesn’t have the wealth of shopping options that you’d find closer to Raleigh. But I think a lot more will come in the next few years as the city keeps growing.
