Yeah man! You can absolutely get some nice quality with only that zoom recorder. Of course if you want really good quality, then you will have to invest in Good DSLR or mirrorless cameras, LED lights, good mics and interface. You also need to have a video editing software and a Digital Audio Software and you need to be able to edit video and mix your drums and so on. It's not cheap and it takes a few months to really learn everything and start making videos but it's the only way to get "Luke Holland" quality. :D
It’s actually pretty cool to see other people record and edit thier vids. My process is similar but I also line audio with the video just for the higher quality from my kit - which obvs you do if you wanna be extra haha
I use another trick to synchronise audio and video. I hit my drumsticks 4 times in the air and in the editing process I only have to synchronise the hits from the sticks and the hole video and Audio is synchronised
Even taking the audio from the zoom camera and throwing it in a DAW with your track would be an easy mix to do. Most daw's have preset EQ and compression that can brighten up the highs and beef up the lows with a couple clicks of the mouse. Slap a 0db limiter on it and you got yourself a easy rough mix.
Thank you so much! I learned a lot about making a better drum covers At first its hard because you need alot of patience to do it I've been editing my drum covers like almost 1 hour but when i saw this and learn it and now when im gonna film and edit a drum cover now is so much easier! Thank you so much! 😀😊
I just started uploading drum vids almost three weeks ago today and I'm so glad I did! I'm having so much fun learning different ways I can make it sound better every video even with just recording with my galaxy s10. I hope I get a go pro soon or equivalent so I can try this! Great vid! 👍
This is fantastic!! I am a jack of all trades (drummer, car enthusiast, 3d printing nerd, engineer, etc.) so I am split many different ways so this is perfect. It gives me a budget way to do cover videos that are quick and easy. I am one to not go all in on one thing except for a period of time. The time of drumming is coming back around!! Thank you!
I have an ipad that I use to record my drum videos. I use an app called cute cut pro to put the music together. It works pretty good. I dont know how to do all the different angles.
The way i do a lot of different angles in my videos with only one camera is that i learn the song 100% note by note and then record the audio first. Once i'm done with audio, I will record the first angle. Then I'll move the camera on a different angle and do the same. This way i can get however many angles i need. You just need to play everything 100% the same every time.
Hey Casey! was in the process of learning how to setup my first video, but Im not sure where to get the music from so that my videos dont get flagged. Am I able to just convert the music from youtube to MP3? or would that get me flagged for copyright?
Hi. I have a question about the zoom camera you are using. Can you eventually make a video on the q8n? I am very curious about the differences and there arent many vids on it. Thanks.
If you have a good sound system does it help to make where you can hear the song when you’re playing the drums does a sound system lounge sound system help with that?
I enjoyed your video, although I've never recorded any play-a-long videos and I know absolutely nothing about what editing software to use and how to use it. Is this possible to do just using my Android phone? Right now, all I have is a Focusrite solo Gen 3 interface and one Audio Technica condenser mic. I get decent audio/video quality running that set up through the Dolby On app, but I want to learn how to record to tracks using this setup. Can you help me by telling me what else I need and what site I can go to to learn how to use it? Thank you.
Gorilla_gaming22 Gorilla no but you have to add some copyright statement that allows you to play to the song. The problem with that is that you cannot get money off of it.
Casey cool to see how you go about doing this!! I just started recently doing two camera angles but I am using iMovie. It is definitely more work but the outcome is worth it!!
@@ShopFromHome1 I use iMovie on the iPad but I use my iPhone to record my videos I then use airdrop to send it to my iPad. Songs I usually use TH-cam and to make drumless tracks I uses the Moises app. When I was using a PC I used the iTunes to get the music back on to my iPad or iPhone. I hope that helps you?
What software program do you use? I’m an amateur drummer who’s looking to do something other than play in my basement learning songs then doing nothing with them
Hey! DSLR is the best choice in terms of video but i definitely wouldn't use the built in mic. I would just get a Zoom H4N pro because it will capture really great audio and is very easy to use. It's also worth getting because when you play gigs, you can connect the Zoom recorder into an audio interface and capture the audio that all the mics on the stage are capturing. It's just a versatile tool and every musician should have one!
When you have multiple cameras running do you just have them running at all times and just edit out the songs after playing, or do you have a start trigger that can turn all cameras on or off simultaneously?
Hi, realy nice video ThankYou! Could you please give some advice how to start hit the very first note on the drums that it would perfectly be matched on the record I'm playing along? When I turn on the music I'm playing along I don't know when it will exactly start and when I have to hit the first stroke on drums. Hope you undersrand what I'm trying to say :)
I haven't personally done it, but you can record your video on a separate camera and your audio on a Zoom H4N pro for example and then get the files into your phone. You can then install a video editing app and syncronize your audio and video in the app. Search how to get files from the SD card into your phone. That's the only thing i'm not sure how to do. I must admit tho that it is so much more benefitial and easier to work on a computer.
Thanks! My setup is a zoom h1n, my Samsung s10e camera, and some basic mics with a simple mixerand I use audacity to eq. I'm still a beginner. And what did you use to edit the video?
Would be a lot easier using Plural Eyes app/software for multiple cameras & original song together. You can integrate it with final cut or premiere. Go search for it. Thank me later. 😅
I just play on top of original drums. As long as your timing is accurate and parts cover the originals it will sound awesome and seem like it’s a “drumless” track
You probably don't need to know this anymore, but no, it doesn't, since the recorded audio is purely acoustic and electronics doesn't produce much acoustic sound, mate.
can someone pls suggest good free apps on macbook where you can edit like this and multiple angles? i use imovie and for some reason i am only able to add one other angle
thanks for the tutorial, but my camera stops recording after thirty seconds and goes to sleep, how do i fix that? [ I am using the same camera as shown in the video ]
So you don't need those drum mics, audio mixing and stuff? Just this awesome camera and a simple video edition software??!!? Dude, that's so awesome

Meanwhile, he still has thousands of dollars worth of Earthworks mics haha. I'm sure there is higher quality audio lingering somewhere..
I just ordered a tascam interface. I want to record audio direct and mix it into the editing.
what program is he using on the computer???????@@ekumusicYT
I love how I commented you should make a how to record a video video. And the next one thats what it is
It’s actually pretty cool to see other people record and edit thier vids. My process is similar but I also line audio with the video just for the higher quality from my kit - which obvs you do if you wanna be extra haha
Great video! I just wanted to mention, I clap one time before the song starts and then line up everything from there so everything is in sync.
I use another trick to synchronise audio and video. I hit my drumsticks 4 times in the air and in the editing process I only have to synchronise the hits from the sticks and the hole video and Audio is synchronised

That's really helpful. I was wondering how to get started with importing the audio from my edrums. Thanks!
Suggest idol what video editor we can use?
I love your videos cooper
You have really inspired me to drum a bit more and now I'v got a TH-cam channel 👍
Fantastic video. Answered so many questions in one go. Thanks.
Hey Casey, please record more videos about to edit video from multiple camera!

Great video, thank you. I know there are tons of video editing programs. Which one are you using in this video? It looked pretty intuitive.

I have an ipad that I use to record my drum videos. I use an app called cute cut pro to put the music together. It works pretty good. I dont know how to do all the different angles.
Drummer Boy 96 Try garageband to edit the music just for the audio

When making a drum cover, how do you remove the drums from the original song?
use a drumless track
search up drumless tracks!
What song you wanna play? I'll cover it with you.
Try the app called "Moises" in the app store it allows you to take any song from youtube and remove the drum parts

Do you need permission for the songs if your drumming over it
