You've got that right! Sure changes can be made on the big boats, but it's a huge undertaking each time, and worst of all there's always someone's life at stake, and if your changes don't work the result can be catastrophic. I played that game for many years, but after the second time one of my guys went upside down I decided I'd had enough. Everyone was fine, but that's a terrifying couple of minutes!
It's a Quickdraw 30.5, but it's not for the faint of heart. They're super fast, but the Quickdraws are a pretty high maintenance engine. If you're racing it's a good choice, but if you're running just for fun you might think about a Zenoah instead. But, here you go; www.quickdrawengines.com/
I would like to get the wood coming from American spruce. If you get a spare second send me a material list so I can get it coming. Picked up the MDF tonight for the jig. Also I need to pick your brain about engines I'm trying to decide if I want to go Quickdraw or Zenoah since I don't have anybody to race against in Utah.
Easy decision... Contact Gizmo Motors and get one of their Zenoahs. The Quickdraw is too much of a maintenance hog when you're just running for fun. I've considered switching to Zenoah myself, even bought one, but I'm a glutton for punishment so I'm determined to make the QD reliable. As for a material list, I'm not sure I can provide that. When I buy material I buy large quantities at a time and just use whatever I need, without really considering how many sheets of one size or another that I've used. It's a big boat, 53" long, so you'll need to consider that when ordering.
It really depends upon whether you intend to race it or just run it for fun. For fun running or even for racing in the simplest possible form it's hard to beat the SLR Missile from Zippkits. Check it out here zippkits.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=688
Are you using a solid flex drive? I’m using the same engine in my 83 Miss Bud. Am very interested in engine & shaft installation with your new mounts!! (Which by the way I’d love to purchase from Bill!! Oh, and with the bell crank throttle mount!!).
No they have not been adequately tested at this point. Frankly I have doubts about them, so I won't offer them for sale until I give them a fair beating first.
Love the Jaxon Tribute shot!!
Me too!
glad you are back
Glad to see you back building Gas again. Terry&ThePirates South Florida
Thanks, it's good to be back!
I really like the receiver box! Put me in line for one of those.
Best thing to do is keep an eye on the Rattlesnake RC Facebook page. This is where they'll be up for sale very soon
Amazing to have you and your builds back ❤😊
Good to be seen!
Been so looking forward to this!!
RC is so cool, can you imagine the cost and bureaucratic red tape to make all of those changes on a full-size boat
On a full size HydroPlane
It s not what you’d think. You just do it yourself or Henderson hydroplanes would do it for you no problem
@@jessemilstead810 that's awesome, they do this for free? or at a cost?

Do you have a video out about the RC hydroplane jig? We could use some help please
Of course! th-cam.com/video/V_LqtFjgHHw/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much.
What would be a good boat for someone that's a beginner to build

When do you think the plans are going to be ready? Also do you have dimensions for the jig
I knew you'd come around! You can build this thing. Sit tight and I'll publish all that when it's ready
Sounds great!!! Can't wait to get started.

Yup, keep watchin'
Lol the paint will be the same, but thinner and lighter 😂
Perfect!
Any tips on getting plywood flat I got a kit and everything is bowed and twisted
I didn't know of a good way to straighten it. Never seen that happen before. Maybe return it and ask for a replacement!
Are the carbon fiber motor mounts available for sale at Rattlesnake?

Details for the engine?
Details?
Ok Specs, who is the manufacture, size (CC), any special carburation or stock, tune pipe? etc., thanks
It's a Quickdraw 30.5, pipe, carb, everything exactly as they sent it fresh off the dyno
