This is an interesting interview. I am sure that Medellin is a fine city. I am from po dunk Georgia (90 mins south of ATL) and I am in no way prepared to live in a city where I can't walk around with my phone. I am not prepared to be wary of motorbikes with 2 dudes on it. I am not prepared to be wary of a shorty I meet at a bar thinking I can't take her back to my place because she might put a mysterious substance in my drink. I just don't regularly deal with these sorts of issues in my everyday life or in my travel life. Medellin is just fine without lames like me!
I see alot of videos about Colombia and Medellin in specific about being drugged, robbed, or even killed. Since watching a barrage of these I've taken Colombia off my list. No intention on my behalf of doing anything off the charts while there but still...the videos make it sound like its just a matter of time before your drugged.
The big issue in my city is road rage, while we have a consealed carry law, no permits required. Aggressive drivers are everywhere. First rule of thumb is not to engage with them in any way. Back in the 80s you could look at and break check them, but not anymore, especially since Covid. The anger and selishness out in society hasn't dissipated much.
@@fredsands9220I agree with this, and now every car is fast so people now are able to rage more and speed up aggressively. You could not weave in and out with a slow azz jeep in 1995 that handled terribly. And people didn’t have cell phones interrupting their brains while they were driving back then
The main underlying purpose of this video is to drag Madellín out of the mud in order to lift it up in a positive light. Honestly, though, when people talk trash about Medellín I know it's really not that bad. And when they talk wonders about it I know it isn't that great either. It's just another city in Colombia where frustrated locals look for a way out while frustrated foreigners look for a way in. As for being robbed grugged or played, that's only if you're mentally limited regardless of being a foreigner or not.
You can get robbed there sitting in a cafe just eating. Usually it's two, one holding a gun and the other collecting belongings. Have something to hand them and it's near sure they'll leave you alone and quickly move on.
