    i watched multiple videos on cleaning playpens, and this worked wonderfully for the actual playpen. i wish i saw the comments, but my mat is now filled with the icky water and it won’t come out. i’m looking online for replacement mats now. but thank you for helping me get the playpen clean again!

    I wish I had read the comments before I did this!!!! About 2 weeks ago I washed my daughters pac n play after watching numerous videos. Afterwards it looked amazing and I was happy. Yesterday I noticed a smell so this morning I pulled up the mattress and it was covered in mold spores. I then noticed which I hadn’t before that their was a zipper to take off the cover. I unzipped it and saw the particle board also covered in mold spores. I feel absolutely horrified that I let my daughter sleep in this. I don’t know how long it’s been since the mold began to grow. I did let it sit in the sun all day to dry after I washed it. I wish I knew what to do now because my daughter refuses to sleep in her crib but I can’t let her sleep in her pac n play now. Please, please do not do this !!!! Like I didn’t know but I feel like a horrible mama right now!!!!

    PLEASE don't soak your mattress in the water without first taking out the wooden boards inside! I just watched this guy's video, th-cam.com/video/NGiNXnTgMJ8/w-d-xo.html. He took out the wooden boards, and show you how to sewing it back into the mattress as well. If you soak your mattress it will ruined the mattress for good.

    Because of the ppl who got more stain since the wood inside of pad, i just showered the top of the pad and try to rub it with baby detergent like 1oz diluted with water. It is so much better than doing nothing. Was a good idea to bring it to the carwash but i don't agree with pad part. Maybe the plastic frame would be okay, but pad would be better with light shower with brushing with baby detergent!:)

    So what I did because I was absolutely terrified of my mat molding is I did this with the frame of the pack and play but with the mat I sprinkled baking soda on it and then sprayed it with warm soapy water and scrubbed the crap out of it then I rinsed it off really good and then I folded it and squeezed as much water out of it as possible then I put it in front of a fan to dry

    My son just had a blow out in his playpen. Needless to say it needed a real wash. Within 2 minutes of filling the tub the water looked horrible. I put the water as hot as it could go and tripled the batch just so it would get as clean as possible. It's going to take forever to dry but I dont care... at least it will be clean again.

    Don't do it. The board in the mat will soak up water and swell. You will loss the structural integrity of the mat. Mine broke 😒 the "dirty" water comes from the Mdf "Medium density board" in the mat "melting". If u want to wash it. U will be better off buying a replacement cover

    I used this method and ended up with brown stains on the edges of pad because the boards are wood. I ended up ripping out the stitching on one edge and removed the boards. Some of them were damaged. I washed the cover separately and them the foam pads. Now I will have to sew them back together.
    Today, I realized an additional problem. When I tipped the pack n play sideways rusty water ran out staining the netting again. These were old pack n plays so I don't know if the design has changed so that water won't collect and stand in the middle part.
    I wonder if the gross water is in part because of the wood boards.

    • @angelamiller2676
      @angelamiller2676 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The water is turning brown for people because the particle board inside the mattress is dissolving! Don't submerge the mattress or the changing table! I used this method and worked well. I scrubbed the mattress and changing table with the very hot water but didn't submerge. It will not take long to dry because I only scrubbed the surface and didn't submerge it. Worked well for me.

  • @shelbyhampton5378

    I am heart broken that I have ruined my mat. The cardboard inside will not dry and it is too soft now and not safe I'm afraid. I'm hoping I can order a new mat by itself. As far as the frame everything went well, I do worry about rusting so I probably will not soak often. Soaking did clean everything wonderfully but DO NOT do it if you have cardboard inside your mat! I hope this helps someone.

I got one 2nd hand and it is clearly filthy. I believe I may just try the soak anyway and see how it comes out... Only, I'm going to do an actual update and let ppl know if it completely ruins the mattress or not. :) Wish someone else would have so it could be seen also.
