in this video I use the Honda WX10 water pump for the first time, its a water transfer pump, not a fire pump, buts performance surprises me.

These pumps are awesome- same one pull start up on mine! I went with the 1” cam lock setup on mine as well but placed the female couplers on the pump. I noticed that the cheap 1” cam lock fittings I got from Amazon really galled the threads on the pump- I actually had to replace the threaded outlets on both the suction and discharge of the pump it was so bad. Plan on using thread locker (like you did) and leaving the cam locks on there for life- they do NOT like being removed and doing so will likely damage the threads.
They really take a hit with friction loss from any kinks in the flat lay since they aren’t very high PSI. Running a 25m 1” flat lay, I get about 22-25 PSI at the pump discharge and similar output.
I think having a nozzle designed for low pressure would improve performance, although it would likely be a strait stream instead of a combination forestry nozzle like that one.
From the reading I did just after purchasing my pump, the 3/4” hose really drops output which is why I went with 1” flat lay. I wish I had a 1” rubber hose on a booster reel, I think this pump would really shine- but the hose and hose reel would cost probably twice as much as the pump!
Also, with my setup, 2x275IBC totes can be drained wide open without needing to refuel- I think probably 20-25 minutes of fuel at full throttle
Lastly, I ordered a small engine hour meter and added it to the top of the red plastic on the motor housing to keep track of its run time for maint. $9 well spent.

Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. Interesting to read about the issues with thread. I used a liquid sealant to seal and lock the cam locks in place, saves messing with sealant tape.

I thought you were putting red locktite on there for a minute, i said jesus, at some point hes going to need to shift that fitting and he'll take the end out of the housing trying to turn that. Handy little pumps they are. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Ha ha, from memory I think I called it thread locker for a while by mistake. It’s simply thread sealant, like liquid thread tape but easier to use I think. It comes off easy enough. This pump is fantastic, I use it all the time, it’s powerful but the really light weight, so much easier than lumping a heavy pump in a cage around the land.

They are a great pump. They are popular amongst gold prospectors too. Light & quiet. I have a small Mitsubishi 2stroke pump. Super impressed with the performance & reliability - only downside of the 2stroke is that it’s noisy. Lighter than the 4stroke tho…
Hey Marty, yep really light. I’ve used it loads this last summer. So much easier to set up than moving the heavy fire pump around. I just bought a Aldi special pump $100, it’s supposed to be nearly as powerful as my fire pump. $100, 3 year warranty. Can’t go wrong. Thanks for watching.
I had a similar pump on my fire trailer that's currently being swapped over for a 7.5 hp twin impeller due to low water flow of 120 lpm and 1.6hp engine adding in only a single outlet having learnt that pumps need a relief valve to take pressure of impellers after a hose is turned off adding in if you use 19 mm hose as your tank to pump supply line the lpm's is reduced down to 80-120 but with retained pressure
Hi Robert, smart move, I wouldn't say this pump is a fire pump, its not, replacing with a much bigger fire spec fire pump is a smart move, especially when you start to add multiple hoses as you have done. these pumps are surprisingly powerful for their size and very light and handy and economical. I use mine for watering the garden, etc . I'm going to do a practical comparison of the 3 pumps I have, the FIS Fire Pump, the Honda and my new cheap as chips Aldi special.

I've also upgraded from factory issued nut/tail hose connections to camlocks with current forecasting projections pointing to dry late winter right through to autumn 2024 it was a smart move

What's the maximum suction depth of the pump from well
The specs claim 26 feet. Not tried anything above 8 feet myself.

It’ll supply the water but I think the pressure will be too great.
Without knowing your situation I think you’d be better off getting an IBC tote, using the pump to fill that and using gravity to feed your drip irrigation….. unless you have very long irrigation lines in which case the flow / pressure will be ok.

Hi, this pump will pump 37m head , that’s 120 foot head. So it’ll do what you want. 1” pipe will work fine, you’ll see on my video that I run 30m (100ft) of 1” and 30m of 1.5” to get the flow I show at the nozzle, just not the lift you mention so expect slower flow. Great pump.
Difference is your water is in a tank higher and mine is a brook , so a 5 feet lift. I think that makes a big difference.
correct it will make a difference, but the pump spec is 120 foot lift, usually there is a graph showing flow vs lift height (head) and it shows how the flow reduces with lift, but I could not find one online for this pump.

Can this pump push water up to 60m distance ( no elevation) with 1" pipe or hose? Just to transfer water.
Easy. But with 1” pipe you will have restricted flow.
You will have enough pressure to water plants. Sprinklers etc with that arrangement, but just don’t expect large volume as the 1” pipe will restrict it. I’m sure there will be flow rate calculators on line you can use.

No, if you reduce the pipe size the flow will reduce.

How deep can this baby suck if we use a 1inch suction hose?
This pump has a suction head (height) of 8m according to the spec. 8m from water surface to the pump is impressive. That’s with a 1” suction hose.

Sorry I don’t know off the top of my head. Have a look at the Waterax pumps, they are impressive and better that the Honda equivalent. Otherwise it’s a search of the Honda pump website, see what the options are.
Could a well pump work for you or submersible ?
Here's the situation. I work in the quarry operation business. Most of my customer here drills 89mm blast holes with depth 10m and will encounter water in the blast holes. That's where the water pump comes in. I was hoping to find a pump with 1inch suction hose to remove the water.

You’d have to have solid intake pipe I’d think, I see any pipe with a bit of flex getting stuck as you try to lower it down. 10m is a long way. I had the same trying to blow dust out of a 2m deep drill hole and ended up buying a length of steel pipe to feed down the hole.
Tricky …… I’d talk to few specialised pump places see if they can help because that’s a specialised situation.
What jumps to mind for me is lowering a weighted thin flex pipe 1/2” id to the bottom, so it hits the bottom, then using an inflatable bladder to plug the drill hole but then pressure the drill hole with air pressure and that will force the water out the flex pipe.

Hi, I just looked at the waterax mini. Very impressive. Not sure how prices compare but it’s a much more powerful pump looking at the stats.
@@TheRuralProject i paid 1400 for a mini in 2015, ive since upgrade to there mark3 model. Which was much more expensive. But still in range with cost of my old irrigation system, and im at a higher risk of wildfires then the average homeowner. The mark3 is very versatile and easily portable.
