- MY ANNAPURNA PLAYLIST: • ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT TREK...
I and my mother will be heading out to Nepal to hike the Annapurna Circuit trek. We will not be hiring any porters so we will be carrying all of our stuff ourselves. This is what I will bring with me. I also give you an update about my knee-issue and announce my Etsy shop “vacation mode” during my travels in Nepal. I somehow missed to show you also my sketching kit in the video so do not worry! I will definitely bring it with me and sketch as much as I can.
CLOTHES I WILL BE WEARING:
Synthetic t-shirt, fleece, underwear, socks, hiking shoes.
EXTRA CLOTHES:
Thermal underwear set, warm socks for sleeping, underwear, socks, synthetic t-shirt, wind-breaker, gloves, buff, 3 bandanas, flip-flops, down jacket, rain jacket.
TRAVEL RELATED STUFF:
Passport, passport photos 8pc, vaccination sertificate, money belt, Annapurna Circuit booklet.
GEAR:

Sounds like it's going to be an amazing two weeks hike. I like to buy hiking shoes 1/2 size big then wear two pair of socks.
I am in Kathmandu right now. I just completed a trek to Everest base camp. The scenery is fantastic, and gear is pretty cheap to buy. The weather was sunny just about every day. Good luck!
Hello, awesome video. I like my Keen boots as well. Good colder weather boots. For summer type hikes I like my Merrel trail runners. Very light and comfy.👍🙄

And you will collect a ton of them if you haven't been trekking through mountains yet... coming for Austria I can tell you that hiking in the mountains is something totally different than in the (more or less) plane areas... And the height is going to be a challenge as well. Hiking at 3000 meters above sea level without conditioning is already a hard thing. But 5000?! That's going to be a hell of an experience! :-D
Now it's going to be a hard time for me waiting for the vlogs... ;-)))

Thanks for posting this! Glad to hear your knee is feeling better. I've also heard that renting gear in Kathmandu is a good idea. My son and I will be going on to Thailand after, so I may be renting sleeping bags and winter jackets. Well, here's to us all having an awesome time!
Good luck for your trip! I did the Annapurna Round in 1983, it was exciting and lots of amazing views in a beautiful landscape. Nepalis are friendly sympathic people. Take care of proper water purification. Dysentery can be a problem in Nepal. Take your time to akklimate to the altitude for the Thorang La. Enjoy the time and best wishes.
Good luck and have a great adventure! Try wearing a compression sleeve on your knee or knees. They are pretty inexpensive. I had the same issue with my left knee and when I have the sleeve on I have no pain at all. I know it sounds a little too simple, but it really does work. For me and a lot of others.

I think this is the forth vid of yours I've watched - good on you! I did the AC on my own and carried my stuff. It was kind of a point of pride I think - if I want something, I will take it myself. I made friends from day one. I hadn't done any of the sorts of hiking you clearly had so I took time throught the year before Nepal to get the gear and go somewhere cold to try it out. Cheers

Hi - I've recently bought a pair of Keens also and with almost NO breaking in time - great choice - they call them "four-wheel drive for your feet" and they're correct - good luck, have fun, and we'll be waiting for updates

If I could suggest one thing- don't buy cheap sunglases in Katmandu- eye protection is very important, sunglasses should be equiped with quality lenses and correct mount of UV protection- 10 euro sunglasses do not offer that. :( It is best to buy sunglasses in optical store!

I started to worry about that, too, so I just bought sunglasses form a sports equipment store here in Estonia.
I bought a pair of Keen boots a few months ago. So far they are very comfortable! Also, I've been wearing a pair of Keen sandals for a couple years, and they've been my favorite sandals so far. :)

Hello there hiking friend here is some friendly tips, sunshine at high altitude in combination with reflecting snow is instant sunburn and it doesn't matter if there is cloudy weather so high protective sunscreen and good quality sunglasses with correct UV protection is needed. Check out the UV-index for the area during the hike and be careful, nose and cheeks needs lots of sunscreen, a nose guard that clip on to the sunglasses is a good accessory. Take good care of you and your mom and have an awesome adventure.

for this type of hike if you are not already doing it you should wear light weight cotton socks inside your hikeing socks, this help to stop any sort of rubbing catching etc and helps with sweating have a good hike..

I really hope your knee gets better. When my knee was bothering me I went to a sports medicine doctor who analyzed my walking stride. He said that when I walked, I needed to push off each step with all five toes instead of just the single big toe. This was hard to get used to but I've had zero leg issues when I changed my gait this way. Ask your doctor to check out your walking gait.
I'll try to remember it and see how I'm walking. It's true that stepping is a really big part of how your knees and hips and all the way up to your shoulders feel. We are all one big connected machine :)

Ha I got Keen Targhees and loved them! I finally killed them after about 18 months? Bought more. The first pair were comfortable from the first time. My second pair took a few wears.

Good luck Maiu, to you & your Mum. Safe journeys & trekking. Hope you have a magical "mum & daughter" time. Wish I was going with you. Hope Luna doesn't miss you too much. We all will.
A couple of kit suggestions:
- hygiene: Dr Brunner's liquid soap is fabulous, great for hair too & dishes etc;
- rescue: take a PLB / EPRB, & make sure someone you trust has your outdoor (route) plan;
- knee: cod liver oil is great for joints
- shelter: while you plan to stay in accommodation, you should carry an emergency shelter in case you get benighted
- water: carry a metal container so you can boil water if benighted
- first aid: carry basic haemorrhage in case of bleeding while remote / up mountain (Mors Kochansky & Paul Kirtley give a good guide to wilderness first aid kit)
- energy: don't forget trail snacks & emergency food in case benighted

The trek is in a really rural area and there simply aren't any possibilities to pay with your card.

nice to know one can actually hike the annapurna circuit without a guide! do stay safe tho and take it slow so your body can acclimatize. the cheap gear are prolly knock offs so weigh out the pros and cons. did you forget you watercolor kit?!

My wife did the Annapurna, just cant remember if it's the Circuit, or one of the peaks :) We Always go hiking with trekking poles ( on long treks that is ) One thing I do remember She said was to be aware of pick-pockets, unfortunately... . Anyways, good luck, and be aware of your surroundings !
