update: life happens... struggling as a student during this time

- 2020 is so difficult... Where ever you are, I hope you and your loved ones are coping with everything alright. Design Lab still hasn't gotten back to me but I'll be taking a longer break... I'll still continue to stay positive and do my best to push forward... In Korean, we say, "Hwaiting!"

I’m sorry to hear that you are going through a rough time. Last month something major happened to me as well in the middle of the semester and I’ve only now gotten back to working on assignments. I hope you take care of yourself on your break. While I don’t know the details I think I can understand the feeling at least a little bit. Hang in there ❤️

Hey Estie! It's Nicole, we spoke on Instagram a few months back. I just wanted to send you some love. I don't know whats going on, but I totally get life happens! As a side note, our instagram chat is what ultimately pushed me to go with DL, and choose the part-time track (you were right!). I'm finishing up week 1, and I'm like WOAH! Whatever is happening in you life, know you are strong and you will pull through! And you are an inspiration for others. ;)

Hi Estie, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through stuff :( Obviously we don't know the details - but totally respect your right to some privacy at this time (I'm also aware some parts of Korean culture prevent talking about family bereavement - so if it's that, totally understand!).
re: Design Lab guarentee - my understanding is that this goes into play if you haven't gained paid employment within x months of graduating. As you've already got a paid job lined up, this presumably becomes a non-issue :) The only thing I could see is the amount remaining on your program; my understanding is you're eligible for a pro-rata refund of your remaining course, though you may not be able to "resume" it at a later date (usually due to mentor availability etc) and may need to start the course again if you wanted to finish. Important question will be how much you need this and whether it may indeed be possible to complete the rest of the course (if needed) at a later date - private mentorship may be available (even from Design Lab mentors), and lots of graduates seem to say the boot camp is only a starting point anyway, so it's not as if you'll be the only one doing some independent study :) If I were in your shoes I'd probably be asking your future employer what skills they need for you to start the job - eg are you able to start the job and continue DL on the side, do you even need it at all? They may have some ideas on other places to upskill :)
As for taking a break - sometimes it just happens and I hope you don't feel too down about it. Yes it breaks with our planned schedules and timelines - but I've always maintained that money is something that can always be earned back later. Do what you need to do at this time - Future You will figure out the rest some way or the other :)

Hey Estie, I hope you are doing well! how's the UI UX course going? I been thinking to join one boot camp in sydney but the price was too expensive and not sure if it will get paid off at the end. Did u get any UIUX job after graduated ??
Those UiUX academies, from an amazon perspective, I don’t want to say their bad but for 20k you can learn from an Adobe Creative-I recommend Maddie Beard… next take Mick Chamgpagnes Design System class to learn how to replicate your own design style-that should help. I know I’m late but it’s better late then mever
