    Thank you for this video. Saw it last night. Got up this morning and put three washers for each bolt and now the door works perfect. Had been told since parts of the hinges had been welded nothing could be done. But the bolts attached to the door had not been welded!

    Stack your washers, put a zip tie thru them and cinch it down. Now you can hold the tail and put washers in easy, cut it off when bolt gets a few threads in.

    Great work man. Most dudes making 20 min videos of the same job. Plus i still wasn't 100% sure about what exactly i needed to do. You just cleared that up. I guess those dudes think someone wants to see them an additional 15 mins for no reason.

    This fixed my 2000 mustang perfectly for now thank you so much for the idea. Quick tip for anyone else that temporarily fixes hinges like this if your bushings are really bad you can do this with the washers but after you’re done oil them to the best of your ability this will help them out a bit :)

    Just open door place jack under door and lift it will bend the bracket enough to align door

    Another one is the nut trick in the window motors. They have a known issue with the window motors going out over time and part of that is because the cars are terrible lol the other part is because they used plastic ball "bearings" that literally turn to dust over time. Replace with nuts and you never have the issue again. There are a lot of videos on this.

    This is a pretty good tip for a quick fix, but the reason a door sags is because the TOP hinge is worn out and out of alignment so adding washers to the bottom is not good longterm. I just replaced both hinge pins and bushings on my truck and that's how I know.

    A++++ Great tip! It may take another 10 years for the pin to wear and door to sag again. If you don't get around to doing the door pins and bushings by then the car will probably belong to someone else anyway.

    Do you need the washers, or can you just loosen the hinge bolts, jack the door up a little, then tighten the bolts again? wouldn't that raise the door?

    • @TheModAddict
      @TheModAddict  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. You need the washers. If you jack up the door and tighten the bolts there is gonna be a gap still left.

    Just tried to do this but it actually bent my hinge in the process, now the door won't re-open without getting stuck on the front fender, and it's jutting out at all times - I guess that hinge is just too far gone to even consider saving at this point.

    • @TheModAddict
      @TheModAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im not sure how bending the hinge with a washer would even be possible.. sounds more like a alignment issue.

    • @paladin_magnus
      @paladin_magnus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheModAddict You might be right but the hinge also looked very visibly rusty, I think I may have bent it in the process of jacking the car up. I'll have to check again once I have the car in a place I can work on it, but right now trying to open the door is actually making it separate more at the bottom front.

    All you have to do is loosen the dam door stryker bolts then shut the door with the handle pulled up. Then pull the door away from the car stryker and tighten the two bolts.

    • @TheModAddict
      @TheModAddict  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not if the door sags.. by doing that you move the striker up..but once tightened and you open the door..it drops right back down.. i tried that method first..

    Yeaaaah no. Pin kit for one hinge around $8 give er take. Time to replace pin about an hour give er take. But good vid! One more thing I will be looking fo buying a used car. If I see this on a car I am considering I will lowball so low they either accept and I hopefully won't get screwed down the line when all the mickey mouse fixes start failing and I have to do it right or... They tell me to hit the bricks, saving me paying to much for a p.o.s..

    • @TheModAddict
      @TheModAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Been like a year or more and havent had a single issue..if door pins are that easy for you but you see it as a need to try and lowball someone because of it.. idk what to say..thats just odd. Sounds like a low ballers excuse.
      But i will say..im doing this on MY car that i never plan to sell.
