Dude... your photos from India were incredible. I have an E500 and an E900 and they're both really cool little cameras that tick some nostalgic boxes for me. I've been shooting the E900 alongside my Xpro3 a little bit and it's kind of fun to see how they compliment each other, even 15 years apart. Fuji is maybe one of the only camera manufacturers that has stayed true to their original design language and imaging styles through the years, and I think that's what really keeps them going. Loved your take on this.
2:50 BRO. Why does this old camera produce such amazing colors?! Also I’m really impressed with the kinds of photos you took before "learning" photography. When I did some traveling in Asia while I was in university, I definitely didn’t do as well as you did - even though in retrospect I realize that that was when my love for photography started.
@@Thorogrimm Didn’t realize they have CCD sensors. Amazing stuff. Even though I’m really happy with what I can get out of my CMOS sensor cameras, I kinda wish CCD sensors were still a thing.
Not an odd review at all Ben, your shots of India are fantastic. I took a Fujifilm F10 (5.6 mp hexagonal CCD) to Oaxaca Mexico in late 2005 and had a similar Fuji digicam experience.
I am so glad to see that you really like that camera. I, too, bought mine in 2005 just because it was new, and had good hype. I have to say, I really love this camera. The clarity and resolution is spectacular, for what it is! Great investment for me, 18 years later! Thanks for showing this!
Because of your amazing photos/video I finally got mine, love the camera-robust, ergonomic, quick and responsive, intuitive menu and the photos are awesome. Thnx a lot!
The photos this camera produces are phenomenal. I got one in a film camera lot a few years ago, and I had the brilliant (read: terrible) idea to mutilate this camera and take it's lens off to try and attach a higher quality LTM lens. Removing the lens caused an error and I was never able to try that! I hope I will come across another one of these because it is a really great pocket camera.
I just got to the sample photo part, dear God its like kodachrome. I have to find another one of these and I hate myself for what I did to mine. Luckily I still have an XD card.
I really enjoyed this video! I have several small and older digicam cameras. I have found some for $3 - $8. I got them for the CCD sensors and to challenge my photography. I still have my DLSRs and Pixel 7Pro cell phone but I'm enjoying some of the older cameras that challenge my photography skills. Best of luck in your photography journey. Best, Duane
Great video! I picked up a Ricoh GRD-IV some time last year. Its the last camera before they switched to the aps-c sensors and man its fun but has its quirks. I actually enjoy old p&s cameras that can shoot raw and have manual controls like the canon S95. Whats funny is when I was younger, i didnt understand how to use the camera and got ok photos, but when i did become a better photographer, the images outta these small cameras are pretty amazing!
JUst bought one today, Jan 15 2024. I am looking forward to just taking "walking around" pictures. By the way, you must have a great way with people because the access that you got to people's lives in India when you were 19 was really something extraordinary. Wonderful photographs! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this camera.
I use digicams all the time for professional work and love handing them out to millennials at gigs. It hits the nostalgia bug hard for them and they love using them. My favorites are the Nikon e series to hand out (dirt cheap, take SD cards and are dead simple to use) and I always bring an Olympus C-7070 and/or a Panasonic LX3 to give me something fun to get into crowds with while having external flash and raw capabilities. Lots of times the digicam photos are clients favorites.
This is one of the only cameras I shoot with. I broke my first one and ordered a second one because I liked it so much. I've made a couple different photo books with it.
I have the E500 and I believe it’s a similar model to this one? I was wondering how you import photos onto your laptop? Having troubles with the cable and wanted to know if you can get a specific card reader for the specific fujifilm card it comes with?
Cool video! I believe my first camera was a Brownie Starflash, or similar, circa 1960s. No issues regarding memory cards, but those flash bulbs were hot!
hey i love the colours on the E550, how compact it is and also the fact that it uses AA batteries. However, this is really hard to find and no where else seems to be selling this. any recommendations or alternatives?
I picked up the E550 and love it but I’m bummed because I don’t know how to get my computer or editing software to recognize/view/edit the RAF files. It’s like they don’t even exist. JPEGs are fine but no RAW editing joy. How do you edit FinePix RAF files? Update: Raw Therapee for the win!
I hope you see this in 2024, but where did you buy the USB cable, I have the camera from an old family camera we use to use, and would love to export images.
Are digicams a viable option nowadays for someone who doesn't want to carry a dslr everywhere? Maybe modern digicams can provide better image quality than mobile phones?
@@ToothlessSnakeable I disagree with that. I just got a G11 and it’s great and has good iq. I’d say, try to get something that has variable shooting modes like manual, aperture priority etc, and can shoot raw if possible. I would try and avoid any cameras with weird and proprietary storage media, unless it comes with the storage media and it WORKS.
@@MikeyMack303Hi there. Just seeing your comment. The cost of XD cards are so expensive. If I buy a MASD-1 to SD adapter and cut off the little tab? Should it work in this finepix? Thanks.
Nice great camera. Have an E500 and an E510 in my collection. And I have some other cameras which runs in AA batteries and uses SD cards :-). With greetings from lower Bavaria.
I've been with Fujifilm for over a decade, and I know this is a controversial opinion considering the new direction of their design philosophy but: Fujifilm should make small cameras again. These X-H Lumix S5-looking cameras are great, as are these new 1.4 lenses, but man they're so heavy and bulky and I don't want to buy them at all.
I’d LOVE a really small pancake style set of f/2 primes. The current f/2 line is good, but I’d love to see them smaller. That being said, there are a lot of small MF options out there

Came here to find a review of this camera because someone in my town is selling theirs for $80 barley used with multiple SD cards 😳 that’s a steal right?
It’s really nice to see that India was also a contributing factor to your photography at least in some minute ways. Absolutely love your photography and videos. Huge fan. I was trying to also age you right with this video. E550 was released in 2004 And you were 19. With just that information, you should definitely be less than 39 years of age as of today. This video got me to check my photos when I was 18 and travelled to London France and Italy for a month. I used a canon digicam. Got check which one that was.

Wait what?! A lot of those photos were compositionally stellar street photos with super nice colors! My lord man you killed it at 19 🔥
Same thought here. Then again, in India you can randomly point your camera into any direction and end up with bangers like this... ;)

Are there any Micro SD to xD adapters available that really work? I bought some a couple of years ago, but my old Fuji refuses to accept them.
