    Hi, great vids, I'm planning a similar investigation on my GT6 to find various leaks, so this is a real help! By the way, at about four minutes in you read out some letters following a serial number. They actually spell STANPART the factory brand.

    My grandpa called the inner gears of the carrier group, spiders. You referred to them as planet gears... I'm curious if terms have changed over the years.

      My book was printed in England, I've heard them called spider in the US.

      Technically they are called differential side pinions, which mesh with differential side gears, but people commonly call them "spider" gears.

      Shannon,The Brits do have different terminology for those gears as you had mentioned ( i.e. crown wheel ...we call ring gear ) even in U.S. the differential assembly is known by many different names.. i.e. " Diff";"Head"; "Pumpkin" ; "Chunk"; "3rd Member" ;"Pig"; Drop In"
