The hospitals can charge any price because the insurance will pay it. Insurance will pay any price because the employer will pay any price for insurance. The employee doesn’t want pay for health insurance so they pressure employers to buy it for them. The employers don’t mind paying for health insurance because the employee don’t know they get paid $5-10k less per year so their employer can afford the health insurance. The purchaser will pay any price if they don’t know they are buying.
Also most doctors don't even bother with certain tests. Hormone levels and things like sleep test are never done unless you mention it or complain about it. Both of these things I had to tell the Dr to get tested. Most also just give you more drugs. This shouldn't be the only solution.
The bigger question is why does Congress have amazing health benefits for life but the people they represent do not? It can be done because Congress voted for theirs they do not want to vote for ours

The big problem is the FDA! 1200$ drug in USA is 100$ everywhere else
