Freightliner AC Green & Blue Light

  • Why is there a green and blue light on your AC button? On a hot day does it feel like your AC is weak and not working well? You think your AC is going out but then sometimes it works just fine?
You need to understand the difference between the Freightliner "Eco" mode and full AC mode. The next-gen truck changes the way our AC Compressor runs and in this video we explain why that is.

When you have to wake up all night long to push the button because you’re drenched in sweat, that makes for a poor nights rest. I’m really struggling with this. it’s 112 outside.

At least you're not stuck with opti-idle that turns the truck on and off automatically, based on a sensor and set parameters. The truck will get somewhat cool, then turn off like in 5 minutes and stay off like 15 minutes and the truck gets hot again within like 5 minutes. Gotta save the companies money over being comfortable and well rested right?
Don't mention it to them, they'll say it's your fault and get ya a nice sleep study.

I think it's opposite with colors (blue for economy) but it doesn't matter.
However, there is no compressor that will run constantly without going off, because ice will clog up your ac lines within an hour and then you got no cold air coming out.
A compressor HAS to stop for that once in a while. ECU actually regulates that.

My experience has been it gets much colder when the light is blue. When I feel things getting warm I look down and it is always on green when that happens. Then I switch it to blue and it cools off again.

It's frustrating that the truck shuts off when it's over 70 degrees outside. It's BS. You can't treat an animal like that...It's a nice truck don't get me wrong. I did like the drawer and open cupboard in the 2016 freightliner better, now it's just a pull out writing desk with a tall cabinet with a door that blocks the view to the front when open. The lane departure noise is dumb. the sensor miss reads off ramp lines with side lines and goes off. I wear headphones so the noise is muddled and that helps. Cup holders are way to low.

Do you know why when you go from outside airflow to RECIRCULATION mode, the fans speed drops to lowest speed, yet when you go out of RECIRCULATION fans speed. The changes in the outside are compared to the airflow inside. I always have RECIRCULATION on its.not the cabin air filter, the motor.and resistor has to be the problem, but you know how those work, when you put it on outside air, you get normal blowing speed on 4, which is max. Now why when I change the normal.settings to RECIRCULATION mode,.the blower motor. Fan speed drops to 1. It's suppose to blow a speed higher than normal speed and it gets alot colder. It's not doing this.

    • @ICE-FYB
      @ICE-FYB 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That’s normal. When you are sitting still and not moving there’s no air circulating through the condenser which is in front of your radiator so the fan kicks on to pull air through it so it doesn’t over heat shit.
That’s why the fan in cascadias doesn’t kick on when driving unless the temp gets above 220. Air is circulating through.

Your mechanic has to turn off idle shutdown in the software on a laptop. Then he can show you how to turn on idol override from the buttons on your steering wheel.

    • @TheAmericanUhate

Our idle shut down is at 73° outside. Another driver I know uses those hot hands packs you get in a box at Walmart, that you shake to heat up, taped to the sensor under the driver side mirror on the outside lol

I imagine they did this because of government regulations. Like my new car has the auto engine shut off when I stop. But they put an option in there to turn the function off. My issue is that I don't know if this function causes damage to the engine or not or causes extra wear to sparkplugs or w.e

Thanks for that..ive been driving that in the green mode, yet when I got into this 2020 truck, it had 267,000 miles, now it's at 293,848 miles and I'm getting my ac compressor replaced. The clutches quit. Btw, would you know or have any info on the blend door actuator. I'm told these trucks you don't idle. I'm in places over 70.degrees. you can't get good.night sleep, however what is the process to swap out the blend.door actuator that controls the locations of defrost, floor, bi level and front vents. After awhile, the air will deviate to either the side defrost or the floor. What can I do and it's frustrating because I can't keep my cold air on me.

i hate this truck! To mention, i got seated in the truck with 140,000 miles on it. Electronic features are garbage. 1st problem was climate control in the sleeper. Maintenance said that it is not just this truck, but every truck they have. So basically, i should expect to wake up shivering in the middle of the night because the heat decided to turn off. That it is literally every new Freightliner they own has this problem. But the worst is the steering. The truck tries to dive the trailer into other vehicles and construction barriers- Lane assist picks up imaginary lines in the road and tries to correct the steering. i haven’t found a way to turn it off. There is an off button but it doesn’t actually turn it off. At times i find myself fighting the steering control to put the trailer where i want it. I mentioned 142,000 miles on the truck and the transmission is garbage. 1st time driving the truck, pulled in the destination with a load and went to back in at the dock. Setup for a 90, put it in reverse and guess what. it was like riding one of those electric bulls at the cowboy bar.
