    Going by the managers original reaction that he could not hear anything it's clear that they knew what the issue was a took it in dirt cheap and tried to flog it to you. How can a Mercedes dealership not know the issues even after doing a 120 point check on all the vehicles that come through..... You definitely made the right decision.

    • @rainoor947
      @rainoor947 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I doubt that, franchise Mercedes won’t bother scamming someone they have their reputation to uphold. As you saw on a quick blip car sounded fine, its only when you hold the revs steady you hear the knocking. Their 120 point check won’t pick it up, plus no fault codes so only a test drive would which I suspect they didn’t do.

    • @hassaansaalim6573
      @hassaansaalim6573 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      unless they are retailing a car they won't do any extensive checks they making enough on the car the customer is buying their priority is not to make profit on trade in. They also keep margin for unexpected issues in their trade in price so they don't have to extensively check a car, otherwise people might just come in to get a quote and get their car checked.

      Once they rattle , start knocking , or even slight noises , it's all down hill from there , this is a not something a quick fix can sort , I'm a mechanic by trade and I know 100% and can safely say iv never seen nore will I ever see someone quick fix something like this , I know u may have seen some films or programmes on tele where the trader bodges the engine with sawdust or other silly stuff but its fictional . Oil thickener wont work either lol , bottom end bearings fail , it's just nature , the only remedy is replacement of the failed components, or an engine swap , either way , it's a costly situation. Iv worked on the M3 engine and the same situation arose, we stripped the engine once removed and replaced the failed components , bottom end bearings , rods , and once you start delving into the damage you see the destruction that slight noise actually makes. Its like swinging your arm with a dislocated elbow , the rods slap , the piston can score the cylinder, the list goes on , we got 50% of the way through and realised an engine swap would have been soooooo much easier lol . Like I said, its nature, components fail and grease monkeys like us rectify the problems . What I'm trying to say basically is , he could have drove it , revved it , dine anything , end of the day the damage is done, Calvin sat revving it to show the manager is something that needed to be done and tbh , what else could he do ? Thankfully he got refunded . Love the videos @Calvin keep em coming

    Hi looking for some help/advice. I'm looking at purchasing a 2015 bmw x6 3.0d with 50,000 miles from a garage I'm a bit concerned about the reliability if you could let me know your thoughts? Many thanks

      As long as the service history is there it should be fine. The diesels are pretty reliable

    Love the dealer response, not that it shouldn't be any different, but take a video, sends you the refund. Its what you want. Not the overall hassle of finding it wrecked, but still. Sadly i a not sure same can be said for the salesman that took it as part - ex. I bet they have taken a big hit on that - interesting to understand the other end, but even for a dealer/MB - buyer beware. Like you say Calvin - USED car game. Full of laughs!

    The engine was definitely messed. Not only from the sound but even the WHITE SMOKE coming out of the exhaust when the car was in idle and warmed up. Thats really bad signs. Signs of a busted head gasket or even cracked cylinders. Good job you realised straight away but i would of been alot more alert once i saw all that white smoke coming out of the exhaust from idle.

    Not a mechanic but I've had 2 cars with faulty gearboxes and when you hear a mechanical rattling noise from a car it sends shivers down your spine
    Also is it a dealers preset response to say "I don't hear anything" lol! Glad you got a refund in the end though.
