As I diver I am not fond of this cage diving practice, well I guess the cage is not the problem, but the chumming. I was diving in the Red Sea last year in waters with oceanic white tips and other sharks. It is amazing to witness them in the water. They are majestic at a distance, but we do not want to encourage them to come close to divers by associating us with food.
I've been diving for over 20 years. There is one thing I learned about diving in waters with large predators.. don't. If you get caught in a bad situation in a long safety stop dive... you are a sitting duck. You don't feed ANY predator (not just sharks...) because not only do they associate divers with food but because of their large size you can easily be bitten or attacked. Conservation ( justly or not...) has increased shark numbers to the point where some areas I used to dive I no longer frequent. Don't put your life in someone else's hands. They are there for money... not you. Think it's just mistaken identity? Try this: th-cam.com/video/sUhdHQlUJi0/w-d-xo.html . It's not about mistaken... wrong place... wrong time... wrong activity... you're on the menu.

Hi @Colin, Big lover of your channel. I'm from South Africa and a dive instructor in Cape Town, so when you do the Cape of Good Hope trip it would be absolutely epic to take you and your team for a dive in the Cape Town kelp forests. I was also very conflicted about the shark cage diving industry but after chatting to many experts in the industry and the studies done it is refreshing to know the sharks don't associate food with people and the boats. In Gansbaai, we have many studies done revealing that its always new sharks that come past and not the same sharks over and over. Cape Town is well known for Port and Starboard (two Killer whales) I have seen myself in the bay and they love hunting Great white sharks in the area, yet the real killer is always the commercial fishing industries with drag nets. There is no control over how much they take out and collateral damage to other species. Would really love to meet you once Parley is in Cape Town so hope you see this comment. You are such an inspiration.
True story. I stumbled into a lecture for meteorologists. The speaker said up to three days forecasts are pretty accurate these days. 4-5 days is a 50/50 proposition. Anything over 5 days is a, "Wild Ass Guess". This was a professional talking to professionals.
I don't think you need to hear it from a meteorologist. Anyone who relies on forecasts knows how inaccurate they are. In Australia, they forecast two weeks in advance!
