Freakin' love working on this stuff. I'm still learning the basics of editing video - do let me know if this style of the moving cameras is something I should keep learning how to do, or if it looks tacky, or whatever.
A few notes: around 1:23 where it says "retuning," I'm re-adjusting my C string. I start the part with my string tuned down a third to A, which you can hear at 0:30. It's important to me that all parts are playable in a live context, so I wanted to make sure there was enough time to retune the string.
The dabs in the video were all accidents...I didn't realize I was doing them so much, so I put the one explosion in for fun

This is absolutely amazing! I tend to tune my C down to G at times to get more bass in some arrangements (makes the notation easier to follow in my mind because you can just 8vb it on the sheet, but same G-string fingerings otherwise X) ... ANYWAY! Fantastic arrangement and performance! I love your stuff man!
Thanks so much! This is actually fantastic advice - it's an interesting struggle to fill out the bass end with most modern compositions, while being somewhat realistic with the cello's capability in live performance. I love the idea of keeping it easy to digest as if it was to be sightread. My main goal with these arrangements is to keep it playable in a live setting, and I hope to one day get a group together and play these at shows!

I recently have been playing FE3H for the first time. I am also a classically trained violinist, and I fell in love with the score at first listen! The music definitely offers a lot of creative interpretative and technical possibilities for string instruments, and I think you really captured that here. :)

Hey! I can actually send you (or anyone reading this) some sheet music if you'd like - bear in mind I did the arranging myself, so it's not a 1-1 parallel to the original. I tried to include as much as I could from the original, but not everything translates to cello super well (as much as I hate to admit it!) It's also a little...light on dynamics and articulation, since I mostly penciled them in while recording...lol. I arranged it with cello playing in mind, so there might be some awkward clef reading (bass, tenor, and treble!) Go ahead and shoot me an email at joshepsteincello@gmail.com and I'll send it to you! I use Finale to write my sheet music, so I can send you .musx or .pdf, parts or score - just specify what you need!
