Just came across this. While our site in SW Michigan has lots and lots of spicebush, I cannot say I have ever seen a berry on any of them. Now I realize I may never have looked at the right time of year ;) And we have plenty of birds that quite happily eat all sorts of berries around the place, so if I don't look at the right time, any berry production is likely to be gone in a couple of weeks ;)
I just stumbled upon your vids and wanted to say thank you for sharing! Enjoyed all the info Rosemary shared. I have tried to grow both Spicebush and Paw Paw here in my yard (zone 9a, East TX). I've not succeeded well, but would love to!
I’ve had a spice bush I planted 4 or 5 years ago. How long does it take them to flower and produce fruit. Is there a way to get a female plant, assuming mine is male?
I can’t wait until my bush produces its first yield. I did not know they were safe to eat!
I live in wayne County Kentucky. These are all over my property. I saw a few today.

They are understory plants, so it may help to shade mulch and leaflitter your growing area!
There is an apartment complex behind our house that has a large honeysuckle plant that people think is a tree.
