- From our 1st Season of Paramount's hit 80s TV series, "SOLID GOLD", enjoy our host, DIONNE WARWICK and co-host ANDY GIBB singing a duet version of his hit, "I JUST WANT TO BE YOUR EVERYTHING", arranged & produced by myself (Solid Gold's musical director and theme composer, Michael Miller - aka "Mickle"). The performance is from Season 1 - Episode 3 of SOLID GOLD, which aired on Sep. 27, 1980.

Man, Andy Gibb looks like a little boy here. I forgot how young he was when he passed. Dionne looks and sounds great. They both do.
Early in her career, Burt Bacharach wrote many songs for Dionne Warwick. Dionne Warwick and Whitney Houston are cousins.
Yes, Andy was only 22 years old here, and, sadly, only 30 years old when he passed on in 1988. He would be 63 years old if still alive. The world has missed his musical talents since 1988, but at least these "Solid Gold" performances are preserved as part of his legacy of musical works.

I know….we probably have the image of The Bee Gees but they’re like more than a decade older than Andy….he was so beautiful inside n out, his distinctive voice….I miss him so much.

Damn. Dionne layed it on! Transitioning from a lead verse to background vocal with pristine ease. That's what a background in church choir, and demonstration recording does for ya. Those adlibs are everything here! Luv it!
I know, she wasn't a writer, but a fantastic interpreter. I appreciate her more and more as time goes on.
@@PlanetRockJesus Dionne Warwick did write one of her own songs, "Two Ships Passing In The Night", in 1983. She was and still is a wonderful interpreter of music; that is what singers are, as they are like actors or actresses put to music. Andy Gibb was a young kid in his early 20s in this video and Dionne Warwick was already a seasoned veteran in the industry, but her sound had evolved to include more genres by the late 1970s and early 1980s and later into the mid-1980s while on "Solid Gold", the best chronicler of 1980s pop culture on television.

As I watch this again and again, I find that it has sort of a disco style and Dionne Warwick easily had that disco beat going. She had said in interviews that she was "not a disco singer", but here it appears that she is Disco Dionne and Andy is Disco Andy here. Since the song had been originally released in 1978, so much of pop music, if not overtly disco, simply had a disco beat and I believe that to be the case here. No matter what genre people think here, Dionne and Andy made quite a duet here. I wonder if he had done "Shadow Dancing" or any other songs of his in that appearance with Dionne as host and him as a guest. They really struck a chord together!!! Excellent rendition that is moving in so many ways, literal and figurative. The song itself is his best, in my opinion, and Dionne seemed to have an affinity for it. They were full throttle here. Beautiful people, show, and harmonies were on display.

Wow! Just last few days I saw how many lovely and talented women Andy Gibb sung with and it's such a shame that he died so young after getting into hard drugs. He was very talented and charismatic.

I wanted to add to my original comment by stating that this, by way of the posted date, had to be from the third episode of season 1, a year before Andy Gibb had become co-host with Marilyn McCoo. At any rate, the magical music continues to move on and move its audiences simultaneously.

I had seen a 1978 video on TH-cam of Dionne Warwick performing this song as a solo just as it was riding the charts upward as an Andy Gibb hit. She did it well there and, here, as a duet, your arrangement really shined.
I know that she was in high heels and Andy in casual shoes, but she seemed really tall here. They blended together so well. It is sad that he had issues that took his talents so soon. However, at least we have the videos that have lasted. Both performers really appeared to get into the movements and moments of this song.🙂 Very timely song all these years down the line.
I always thought Andy was a lot taller than 5'6 but with the new biography, he was only 5'6 so with Dionne being 5'7, heels would probably make her a giant next to Andy LOL
@@aprilscarlett Yes, it appears that way, as both Dionne and Andy were side-by-side. No matter the case, they blended together real well on his hit song from 1978 in this early 1980s "Solid Gold" appearance. It was a giant of a show on the pop cultural zeitgeist of its era.
