  • Returning to the old time lapses, It does give a different perspective on the build but lacks the details of the series. You get to see how much I move the camera for the series as well as how much Mr Spotty does off camera!

    Hey Vehcor, another great video.
    Vehcor, so, you are Producer, lead actor, you have support actors, director, editor, writer, lights director, grips, stage manager, casting director, location casting director, best boy, driver, stunt man, extra, set designer, prop master, make up artist, custom designer, photography, composer, etc...no wonder you don't have the time to answer my very important email (well, very important to me)

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You also forget, I have a full time job, buy, pick-up, and build all the content you see and a lot you don't, go to the gym and occasionally sleep. So in order to do that I have to prioritize things. TH-cam comments come first (and I am 2 weeks behind on them) because they give me a small benefit and occasionally a good laugh, then IG and then the emails. FB is completely ignored since I don't have time. So why emails last you , you ask? Well the 100 or so emails I get weekly can fall into these categories:
      1. Collaborations/sponsorships most of which are not worth the time or I do not like the product.
      2. Viewers that want me to build and sell them an unrealistic vehicle at an unrealistic price.
      3. Viewers that want me to finish their projects because they are in over their heads.
      4. Viewers that want me to estimate their wrecked vehicles because it is easier for them than going to a shop.
      5. People (mostly women) that want me to "meet" them. (I have a girlfriend, at least until she reads this!)
      6. Viewers that want to ask a question and they don't want the world to know. (Usually to question my TH-cam peers)
      I will get to your email when I have time, and see what category you fall into or if you have developed a new one! I don't know that I will recognize your email unless you use the same name. Thanks for watching.

      @@vehcor Hey Veh, may I call you Veh, since I don't know your name? ha ha ha J/K. You need to sleep a bit more. It is healthy. I'm impressed you have such a long "reply" answer. My comment had a bit of sarcasm but in all reality and foremost, a lot of admiration. Watching your time lapse video, made me realize that you do the "Video Production" all by yourself. Video and close ups are of highly interesting and high quality. Very enjoyable for a guy like me (mechanical inclined/frustrated mechanic) BTW, America was built by dedicated people that worked their ass off 25/8. So, you, your dedication and hard work, should be an example that to build an audience, likeness and finally followers like me, takes hard work, dedication and lots and lots of a loss trait which is called integrity. (for the uninitiated, integrity is when you do the right thing even when no one is watching. Case in point, the loose ends left in the transmission swap of the GMC Yukon at the dealer. That tech thought, no one will ever find out...and youtube [you] did!!)
      I'm looking to buy a new truck. A 2020 or if Spy photos of the 2021 are realistic, a 2021 Ford F-250 when they come out. Based on my purchasing intentions, If something comes along that you rebuild, fix and willing to sell, I would like to have the opportunity to discussed it as a fair business transaction to you and I.
      Best regards

    It is really hypnotizing to watch the time lapse of the frame swap. If I understand correctly if you know what to do then to perform a complete swap it takes abt 9 hrs per car. If I would like to drop the frame on a '00 Tahoe to get rid of all the rust it would take abt half a day to drop the frame and another half day to put it back - right?

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, it takes me 8-10 hours to swap a frame depending on the vehicle, the book time is 24-34 depending on vehicle. I have become pretty efficient with lots of experience. If this is your first, plan on being closer to book time. If you are working on it because of rust plan to add time to work around that. Like the bolts that will be seized in all the suspension bushings. lol

Are those measurements public, or will a dealer provide that information if I called them? Is there a website that has that info? I am guessing that you have access to documentation or a database as you are in the industry. Thanks for all your great videos. Also, anyone can comment as I do appreciate the information. • @vehcor

      I have not found anywhere that lists them publicly. I get them through the estimating system, frame rack system, Alldata and ICAR. All of which are subscription based. Very expensive for one time use. I always recommend stopping by a shop and offering to purchase a data sheet. Dealers do have repair procedures available but I have never asked if they have measurements.

      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have swapped a lot of frames and you learn early on that sometimes there might only be small changes in parts but to take them back off and fix it further through the process takes a lot longer. It might add an hour to swap all that stuff over but if one thing happens to be different and I don't know until the body is back on, the body could have to come back off. I have had to do just that in the past. I also like to use the lowest mile parts as well, hopefully they will last longer.

    • @southjerseysound7340
      @southjerseysound7340 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hopefully he'll chime in but I know he uses Wurth cavity wax on the body and I'd assume he does the inside of the frame too.I think it's shown in the previous video. I personally use Fluid Film and plan on trying the Wurth after I run out. But I do the body and frame inside and out in areas with it. I especially concentrate on fuel and brake lines, nuts and bolts etc more so than just the frame. The lanolin based products are 1 million times better than undercoating. Most of the heavy coatings cause more damage then they help and I recommend avoiding them if at all possible. They trap the salt and moisture inside and wreak havoc on cars.

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The frames are coated in wax from the factory so I replace what I disturb. I also coat the fuel and brake lines while the body off but as far as the frame itself, it is well coated from the factory.

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@southjerseysound7340 The frames are coated from the factory. The Wurth wax is very similar to the factory coating kind of a like the lanolin products but thickens up so it won't run or wash out. I used the FF on the Mistake but I don't like it. Too runny and requires reapplication to be effective. You and I both know customers are not going to annually rust-proof their car. lol Heck, I don't even have time for that! I have videos to edit! The rubberized undercoating traps water, so unless you are just protecting a painted surface, it does more harm than good.

      The one I used on this truck is just a read and reset like yours. No bidirectional controls.

      @@vehcor Thanks....will just roll the dice then and grab one from the net. I don't turn wrenches much anymore but darn those GM brake lines from the early 2000's rust like mad.

      You can still bleed them the old school way, it just takes longer.

      It got new antifreeze and brake fluid since the systems were drained. Every one of my vehicles gets an oil change. The third video in the series shows how far off the frame was after the accident. It was also nice to get rid of a little rust as well.

    And why are you switching frames.??

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it is bent. There are a lot of answers in the series.
