I love your point about writing music that you can't perform and using that as practice. Jacob actually taught me that about piano. If you write things that you can't play, and then then practice that, it doesn't feel like practice, it feels like fun. It's working to realize your dream and not just doing finger exercises or scales.
Mostly, Jacob taught me that music is more fun if you treat it like a chemistry set and constantly experiment. Don't focus on making something that other people will like, focus on stuff that expands your musical vocabulary. Experiment and play to find new places in yourself.
You should def react to any of Jacob's other songs: the "Little Blue" MahoganySessions version is with a full choir and is magical. Also "All Night Long" featuring Take 6, Quincy Jones, and a full orchestra... Did I mention Jacob has perfect pitch, can play literally any instrument, and has SIX Grammy WINS & 12 noms? Please fall down this rabbit hole further! 🙏
