If multiple villains in the same work can be summed up as “rapey guy,” viewers are going to take notice, especially if the author just relies on that aspect of the character to communicate that they’re evil, instead of putting in work to show other things you should hate about them. Also, it’s just hard to enjoy hating a rapey villain. Murderous villains, insane villains, you can root for their downfall while still enjoying the ensuing process. Like Kayaba. He was definitely a villain, but it was fun to watch his craziness unfold and the characters take him down. Rapey villains, though? No, too icky. You can enjoy watching them inevitably fall, but it’s hard to enjoy the schemes of someone who’s ultimate goal is “rape x.”

Come to think about it... Suguha's personality really is genius, isn't it? Not only does it show why Kirito is such an asshole, it also explains why she falls for him way better. In real life, Kirito's kind of a coward. In-game however, none of that is present, which not only explains how she never recognized him at all, even when his avatar looks so much like the real him, but it also explains what pulls her to him. The only thing she feel attracted to seems to be someone who is just as egoistic as her, or even someone who out-egoes her. This season is gonna be fucking fantastic, I can tell already.

I'm really not sure where you're getting that notion. They put him in the hospital for round the clock care, to be cleaned and arms and legs still exercised by nurses and to be hooked up to IV's for nutrition and fluids while he was vegetative. What more were they supposed to do? They also didn't know he was imprisoned, they just knew the people couldn't be removed from the headsets without dying and the company had no answer or cure, so they admitted him to the hospital. Have you ever cared for someone in a coma? That's not something easy to do. A trained peofessional handling it was rhe right thing. And you don't know that they didn't visit often. Just because it didn't recieve screentime doesn't mean they never cared. Also they're his aunt and uncle, his own parents passed away and he lives with his cousin (Suguha) and her parents.

I'm really not sure where you're getting that notion. They put him in the hospital for round the clock care, to be cleaned and arms and legs still exercised by nurses and to be hooked up to IV's for nutrition and fluids while he was vegetative. What more were they supposed to do? They also didn't know he was imprisoned, they just knew the people couldn't be removed from the headsets without dying and the company had no answer or cure, so they admitted him to the hospital. Have you ever cared for someone in a coma? That's not something easy to do. A trained peofessional handling it was rhe right thing. And you don't know that they didn't visit often. Just because it didn't recieve screentime doesn't mean they never cared. Also they're his aunt and uncle, his own parents passed away and he lives with his cousin (Suguha) and her parents.

In the physical world he's just a teenager, and we're seeing how everything is kinda shitty for him, setting up his return to the virtual world quite well. Additionally, when he finally overcomes Briefcase in the real world at the end, it means so much more that he was able to be strong even outside a game. Well done y'all.
