This was perfect Alexey. Thank you! One could spend years on fundamentals and yet there is always something to tweak. Your foot points really inspired me here.

I like when you focus more on fundamentals. You really need the fundamental basis before learning more figures

Technique of Latin Dancing by Walter Laird
    TIME SIGNATURE
The time signature is 4/4 with predominant
percussive accents associated with the 4th beat of
each bar. The dance should be started by taking a
step on the 4th beat of a bar of music.
    TIMING AND BEAT VALUES
The Rumba is a "body" dance. Hip actions are
produced by a controlled transfer of weight from
foot to foot. Each foot movement takes a 1/2 beat of
music. Weight transfer or body action then occurs
on the second half of the beat for steps taken on
the 2nd and 3rd beats of the bar. During steps
requiring two beats of music (namely those taken
on 4.1) the weight transfer or body action uses one
and a half beats of music.
To achieve this rhythm interpretation each figure
is counted starting from a preparatory step taken
    on count 4 as follows: 4 & 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 1 & ....

Hi Alexey, great tutorial! Would it be possible to explain each step with music in 2 bars. This is I think more about a timing question. Don't we step on 2,3,4 and no action on 1?

Hi Alex! I have a question please: why do step forward (or back) 'diagonaly' at count 4 (in basic step), instead of doing a 'direct' step?? Is it only bacause you're doing a New York soon after as a combination, or are we supposed to do that always, meaning whenever it comes to an sationary 4 count box step?? Thanks a lot!
