    I’ve used bags to store my wine. Will this be a good idea for the long term or are wine bottles better? If they are better, why are they better?
    Thanks

    Helpful Video, im waiting for my first Cellar 7 to clear now, and I was just wondering. I'm on the clearing stage and the bucket has a tap in it like the bucket you used at the end to fill the bottles. Must it be siphoned again into another bucket or can it not be taken straight via the tap to bottles, is the tap not high enough up to avoid the sediment.

    • @Brewbitz
      @Brewbitz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi. Ideally you need to siphon into a new clean sterile bucket.
      The sediment in the bottom of your bucket will be whipped up by the current if you use the tap.

    Hi. I have completed the fermentation, added the stabiliser and findings. But would you recommend filtering before bottling? It's not in this video, but I assume this would help the quality of the wine?

    • @Brewbitz
      @Brewbitz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Yes filtering will polish the wine. Youll be surprised what the filter will catch.

    Good video... quick question. once complete and bottled... will this wine improve over time? weeks, months, years etc?
    Thanks

      +Jason Palmer Hi Jason, like any wine it will improve somewhat! Give it a couple of months or so and you'll have a nicer wine! That's if you can wait that long without drinking it! ;)

    I have been fermenting my wine for 6 days now. There is still bubbles of c02 popping when I lift the lid. Shall I leave it until they disappear? Also should I be stiring during this period? Thanks 😁

    • @Brewbitz
      @Brewbitz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. You dont always get bubbles, so check it with a hydrometer. If in the video i dont mention stirring it, then no stirring is needed. I’ll tell you if you do 😊

    How does this compare to House of beaverdale wine kit? I have had beaverdale a few years back?

    • @Brewbitz
      @Brewbitz  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Philip Price
      Hi Philip, the Beaverdale kits are higher in quality (and price) than the Cellar 7 so you're going to get a better end product. The beaverdale kits aren't 7 day kits, they take around a month to make. Cellar 7 still makes a great wine, it's just a quicker, easier process and the end product will be equivalent to around a £4 bottle in the supermarket as opposed to a £5-6 bottle from the Beaverdale.
      Hope that helps! You can see our range of Beaverdale wine kits here -> www.brewbitz.com/16-wine-kits#/manufacturer-beaverdale

      I love you for that. You're the first person that I've seen - both on youtube and various homebrewing forums - explain quality by comparisons to quality/price ranges in supermarket wines. It really puts it into perspective and gets across the quality much better by bringing up wines that we already know. Thank you!

    Is it ok to use warm tap water if the hot water is heated in a copper cylinder?

    • @Brewbitz
      @Brewbitz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Probably not. As usually in the UK, if you have a hot water tank, that is usually fed by a header tank in the roof.

    You mentioned another video showing us how to sanitise the kit but I can;t find it anywhere on you tube. Can you help?

    • @theoriginaldylangreene
      @theoriginaldylangreene 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ruth Hutchinson Don't know which country you are in, but the sanitizing solution used here is Sodium Metabisulfite. You can probably find it on ebay in your country. Here is a link on how to use it :
      www.homebrewers.com/category/aatdvarks.videos.001_beginner.cleaning_and_sanitizing/
      You can also use the solutions used to sanitize baby bottles, here in the UK we have a company called Milton that make it. But any food grade sanitizer will work, as long as you rinse thoroughly in running water afterward.

    Hi. I have a beaverdale kit and the finings contain crustaceans that I'm allergic to. Not anaphylactic but I dont want anything to spoil the wine for me. I'm a complete novice. 1st batch ever. Is there anything else I can use to clear the wine instead. Mayne different finings or could I maybe rack it again will it clear by itself if I leave it for longer? Thanks for your help.

    • @Brewbitz
      @Brewbitz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi.
      There are different finings made from different things.
      Fish Swim Bladders, crustaceans, animal bones, fungi.
      Just to be safe, you could use Harris Starbrite as long as you are not allergic to fungi.
      Hope this helps.

    • @Brewbitz
      @Brewbitz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here’s a link to our finings page for more info - www.brewbitz.com/collections/finings-clearing

    • @Brewbitz
      @Brewbitz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adding to this, the way finings works might help...
      The substances in finings are negatively charged. The particles in your brew are positively charged.
      This means they attract each other and form clumps. These clumps are more dense than the brew and so sink.
      Usually all the finings sink to the bottom, so no crustaceans should be present in your finished wine. But better to be safe.
      If you have drank wine from the supermarket, it is possible it has been fined with finings before filtering. But as it is removed, they dont have to tell you they used it.
      Hope this helps.

    This is my first time making wine. I made it but it is crap. I think i did something wrong. Degree was 26C first 3 days. Then i tried to lower it. It was around 22-23 i waited till ferm end. Then i added stabilizer and finings. Waited 3 days. Today i bottled them. But it is not clear it is like a juice. I could not even drink one glass of it. It tastes like it is not saturated. What did i do wrong can you help me please ?

      Hi Ilker. Sounds like you did a few things different to my recipes.
      What fruit did you make your wine from? Did you use the pectic enzyme (pectolase)? What was your sg reading at the beginning and when you bottled it?
