Geyser activity reemerges at Steamboat hot springs near Reno after decades of inactivity

- For decades, scalding mineral-rich water has percolated underground near Steamboat Hot Springs south of Reno.
But in the last several months, that geothermal activity has bubbled up to the surface and spawned a small geyser, the likes of which haven't been seen in the area since the early 1900s.

Thats the way it was in the 60s
Nothing new. This was an active geothermal vent years ago, before the Ormat power plant. The high level of ground water this year will let it return for a while. There were hundreds of vents that went dormant because of the Ormat geothermal power plant disrupting the ground water level.
It's do to the ground water rising due to the wet winters we have had. Not really a mystery when the springs dried out so did the Geyser.
That's what he said in the video.Not a surprise.
...if this continues, I wonder if it will destroy the rare buckwheat that grows there; the only place on Earth where this plant grows...(?)
