I just want to say that just because you may not have had it as hard as others does not mean your pain is in any way minimised. Please allow yourself the grace to feel your own pain. Theres always someone else in the world worse off than you but it doesnt mean you cant feel pain. Your experience and hardship is valid. And congratulations ❤
Thank you for making this video, you will help more people than you know ❤️. I truly believe the reason IVF finally worked for us was due to people talking and sharing what they had learned. We had male factor infertility due to two varicoceles. The NHS wouldn’t treat them and said IVF was the only way for us. We ended up having 3 failed rounds of IVF before speaking to a private urologist (Jonathan Ramsey). Through seeing him we found out we had severe DNA fragmentation and so we ended up embolising the varicoceles privately. We then found out I had a blood clotting issue and high NK cells! So we waited 6 months post varicocele embolisation, and then started IVF again (with me taking steroids like you mentioned). That round worked and I am currently cuddling my 5 month old miracle ❤️❤️
Dear Lucy, brave girl. I am 46, mother of an 8 year old son who was conceived with help after 5 years. Funnily enough I lived in Barnes at the time of my treatment, close to MIC ville and I followed you and your journey with my husband as we navigated the waters in our late 30s. Weirdly, as I now live in Sweden, I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering, hoping, that you would be a Mama soon. Here I find you sharing your story with courage and vulnerability. It is hard to trust the docs, but your feminine power and intuition and ability to let go and trust is the key. Your grit and sass is what we love about you, and it is the combo of this power and also your softness that has brought you here. I remember being anxious my whole pregnancy. I did absolutely nothing but sleep and eat and walk as much as I could. Trust your gut. Allow OTHERS to hold you at this time (that was my blockage, I am an over compensator). Sending you all good things, and James too! It is a RIDE! Lastly, little boys. They rock your world. LOVE x x x
There is so much really valuable advice in this video. I bet this will really help those that are still on their fertility journey, even just to know that we are not alone in your struggles, and that others understand the heartache of longing for a baby. So happy and excited for you and James, this is a very lucky little boy that he was so longed for and wanted. Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy and this new journey into motherhood
I am so sick of the narrative of health professionals and those around you who have had children successfully and quickly tell women like yourself, "Don't get fertility tests, genetic testing, etc. Or not to worry about it?" Like I am struggling and the normal things aren't working for me. You're so brave Lucy, thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you for sharing, it will help a lot of couples to just not feel alone. This topic needs to be talked about more as so many people suffer in silence 🙏
Thank you for this overview, I really wish I knew this advice before our Fertility journey ended. (11 ivf transfers, 5 miscarriages, no money left and mental health pushed to the max) however, after 6 years of treatment we have a miracle son now aged five which I am so grateful for. He was our 6th transfer. We paid privately for some blood tests and I was advised that I have high natural killer cells. I took steroids along with more progesterone despite the doctors view that there is no evidence this will help and it worked. We had a further 5 double embryo transfers following covid but no success. The clinic would not give me steroids due to the pandemic plus they did not believe that this could have been the reason I had my son. We had to accept that we couldn’t have anymore children. Such a tough pill to swallow even though we have won the lottery with our Son. Good luck with everything being a parent is truly wonderful ❤ I think there is still a long way for the fertility sector to go as there is a lot they don’t know yet and funding is very short. Unless there has been a clinical trial I personally have experienced my requests being dismissed.
Very informative Lucy ❤ so happy for you! Just a few other things to add for anyone interested. If struggling to conceive or having recurring miscarriages, get doctors to check if you have a uterine septum. This is a piece of non fibrous tissue which should not be there, but for some people it still is which is a birth defect and it can cause a lot of problems. It can be surgically removed. Also once pregnant, please always make sure that your cervix is measured at your anatomy scan to reduce the risk of loss or premature birth.
Been waiting for this. As someone who had secondary infertility & was thankfully successful having another child my heart goes out to everyone struggling it can be such a lonely place & the guilt I felt already having one child for those who don’t, again sending love it’s just awful. ♥️♥️
Thank you for sharing, i have had tests done and have an autoimmune disorder and risk of blood clots, thankfully will be starting my ivf treatment end of november and i am so excited, especially after 4 miscarriages in the space of two years xx
Thank you for making this video. I relate to every part of this! My son is currently 7 months old 🥰 but it took us a few years and it all felt incredibly lonely (we were about to do IUI when I fell naturally)! It’s good to let other women know that they aren’t alone. When I was pregnant, I did some nct classes and was surprised at how many of them also struggled
Thank you so much for using your platform in the public eye to speak up on this. I have a 5 year old and we've been trying for 3 years for baby #2 and nothing. All fertility tests were normal. I knew a lot of the things you touched on but I've realised im not taking enough Co-Q10 so thank you for that. Sometimes everything is ok and theres just no rhyme or reason and its so upsetting. Thank you for normalising the conversation around infertility and starting the discussion. We dont need to suffer in silence or cry alone. Congratulations on your pregnancy and wishing the remainder to be happy and healthy 💙🩵
We had the same issue and there’s a little known condition called ashermans syndrome which can cause secondary infertility (because you generally only get it post c-section or a d&c) - I’d recommend anyone who’s had either procedure and struggling to get pregnant to add ashermans syndrome to the list of things to check (as it can be treated!) x
Awh Lucy, I hope everything goes great for you. You deserve it ❤ I had alot of problems for years but they never picked up my endometriosis until they realised I had a cyst in one of my ovaries. Right after removing the endometriosis, I got pregnant straight away with only one ovary ( so it is possible to get pregnant with just one ovary).. I had to wait so long with the nhs as they weren’t taking anything seriously! I also had a haemorrhage after the birth and almost ended up having a hysterectomy 😓 had to have two surgeries to stop the bleeding. I’ve had an absolute horrific time of it all but I did get there in the end… I don’t regret a moment of pushing and hoping for that baby who is going to be 7 soon ❤
I found this video very helpful as i’ve had fertility issues aswell. I had a similar experience like you after covid jabs and then getting shingles (which yes I agree with you very very painful & uncomfortable) my cycle got messed up so it’s interesting to hear another person talk about it ❤
Thanks for sharing, lots of tips there, a couple I hadn’t heard of. Also I can’t remember if you mentioned about weight? Not sure if it’s male and female but female you have to have a BMI between 19 - 30 otherwise they’ll discharge you straight away and refuse to see you! Luckily I’d just put on enough over Xmas so that they didn’t dismiss me, also my doctor had written to them to say I’ve been investigated and have found no cause to my natural smaller size in weight but they would have dismissed me there and then at the first appointment if I hadn’t put that bit on.
Lucy, 😍 congratulations on getting pregnant with your baby boy! Also, please disregard any negative comments. Any and all information from couples who are trying is good to know. Whether you relate or not. Shaming people only discourages others from sharing their personal experiences, which to the rest of us is very helpful ❤️
Thank you Lucy for sharing this. I think it should be talked about more! Good tips also. We have been trying for 3 years, got told we needed IVF and probably wouldn’t get pregnant .Got pregnant naturally but didn’t find out for ages as told it probably wouldn’t happen and then lost the baby after going for a private scan and finding there was no heartbeat 😢💔now trying again but think may enquire about IVF again if it doesn’t happen xx
28:01 currently in my group of friends there is 3 of us that are trying to get pregnant we all started to try around the same time. We all 3 are having a hard time to get pregnant. Idk if I want to be the first to get pregnant and then feel bad cause they are not or have them get pregnant first and then me. It’s hard all around I think.
This is so helpful and such a good video, very aware and in tune with everyone… I am four years not having birth control… still no babies, now finally in the steps of starting to be given some help, it’s taken a long time to even get here … oh yes when I had my tubes checked I cried with pain 😢 oh yes and when everyone else is getting pregnant, I remember saying to my mum if one more person tells me they are pregnant…! Omg with the nhs I am only seen every 4 months most times… and I always end up seeing someone new and different 😳 congratulations to you and James ❤ and so relatable too with the loss of your fur babies we lost our cat at age 3 … he was our baby 💔
Thank yoi lucy for making this video. Myseld and my husband have been on our fertility journey for three years. And unfortunately have had no success, they way you explaied how you felt is how i feel, its hard to explain to people those feelings ❤
It's so tough, I remember walking around seeing women pushing prams and thinking why not me too. I finally got pregnant after trying for year and a half. I had a hycosy same month fell pregnant which I believe helped..
Thank you so much for all your information, I relate so much to everyone else it seems to happen for so easily, i also feel embarrassed to talk about it. January me and my partner are going to sign up for a fertility specialist and start some of these supplements. Been tracking my periods for 2 years but nothing as of yet 😢, ovulation tests all normal. My mum struggled to get pregnant and I think that’s what’s going to happen for me, currently 27 so trying not to panic just yet but definitely ready to get the ball rolling xxx
The information you have shared will be so valuable to people starting their fertility journeys 🤍 Like you I’m really struggling with ‘will this ever happen for us’ it is heartbreaking that I cannot have a baby naturally when many of my friends have fallen pregnant so easily, but our embryo transfer is one week today and hearing success stories such as yours gives me hope. And for that alone I am so thankful you have shared xx
Thank you for sharing. I haven’t experienced any infertility as my wife and I are about to start our journey, but my sister has suffered with this so very close to my heart. Could you share the Coq10 supplements you used? I’m trying to find clean supplements without bulking agents or seed oils and it’s tricky!
Thank you so much for this. I’m in a similar position and it’s making me so nervous. Am 30, have regular periods, always ovulate as have been taking tests, but over a year of trying and nothing. Am getting testing done and trying to stay positive but am nervous. Everyone around me is getting pregnant after one or two months of trying as well. I also had a bad reaction to the Covid vaccination so hope that hasn’t impacted me.
I’m a little confused- did you conceive naturally? I know you’ve said that you’re weren’t going into details about medical results but it would have been good to know the results and how they were turned around. You’re just directing people to the testing that they would normally get, but you’ve had the privilege of being able to afford it, so I’m really confused the point of this video?
She’s talked about some really personal things, she never needed to tell us anything. She’s told us the supplements she takes. She’s talked about toxic load/endocrine disrupters within products, she’s done a lot. She’s really put herself out there. Really don’t think this comment was necessary. I definitely found it helpful and it’s given me the boost I needed.

Thank you for sharing! I’m a dietitian and I’m often asked if following a vegan diet impacts fertility. I always tell people no you can follow a vegan diet and 100% still get pregnant with some planning. I will send this video to all my vegan clients for inspiration ✨
Fantastic! Well, the biggest nutritional organisation in the world states that; “It is the position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that appropriately planned vegetarian, including vegan, diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. I hope it happens for you. They recommend visiting a fertility doctor as soon as you want to start trying for anyone 40+, so it’s great that you’re getting it sorted. 6 months before you’re wanting to become pregnant is usually the longest wait for someone 35+. It’s definitely still possible for you, remember to make sure he gets tested too!
My aunt conceived at 52 after 17 years of infertility. We all cried of happiness for her and her baby is the perfect little boy. I’m praying it’ll happen for you and the wait isn’t too long 🙏💜

I’m praying it’ll happen for you and the wait isn’t too long 🙏💜
Thank you for raising awareness around infertility Lucy. I had my Fluoroscopy yesterday and it was not a pleasant experience but will be worth it all in the end I hope 🤍
Good luck with everything x
