Tried it briefly and when I went back to the regular pickleball, my timing was way off. The BZER ball also bounces off the paddle the same throughout the surface, so it doesn't help your feel for the sweet spot. I don't know whether drills tailored to this ball would help.
As I improve I find the most important thing you can master in pickleball is footwork. If I move correctly and get myself in the right position for my next shot, my consistency goes up exponentially
I tried this during one of my lessons. My instructor told me I was wasting time with the hop. He proved it by banging balls that required my movement on my side of the court. Once I eliminated the hop, it was obvious it saved time and I had more of a chance to return the ball. Just split step at the end of the last move and forget or at least greatly minimize the hop, which basically eliminates an unneeded extra movement. When watching this video, you can see it does waste precious time.
The hop, whether minimized or not, should be completed when your opponent contacts the ball (though ALW lands shortly after the ball has been hit). No time is wasted because you're waiting anyway. The landing loads your muscles, thereby increasing your muscular potential for explosive movement, i.e. increasing your speed.
Why do so many tennis players comment about tennis on pickleball vids? Obv you're allowed to do whatever but just curious as to why y'all feel so compelled to say pickleball sucks and tennis is better?
@ 1/ Did I write “pickleball sucks”? NO. So there alone you messed up by assuming. 2/ I play both. And love both. I prefer tennis, but my knees prefer PB recently.

Thanks John - good drill session to increase balanced foot work and readiness - I use them as pre-drill/game warmup
John. Could you do vid on one- handed topspin backhand groundstrokes( or is this not recommended). Never seen it hit at a high level...
Thoughtful and well done! Great explanation.
A very completed explanation and drill on a very important subject. I need to work on the tossing ball exercise.
Great video John, that makes it really care and them drills help so much. thanks yet again!
Awesome instruction as usual thanks❤

Great lesson as usual, thanks!
Very helpful. Can't find the link to the BZER ball. Would a ping pong ball do the same?
No. The beazer ball bounces the same amount off the ground as a regular pickleball does. That seems to be the best part of using this particular ball.
@@worthduperier4284 Thanks. Did using it make a discernible difference in your game?
Just Google it.

Everyone knows about it for tennis… but plenty never actually do it
and your point is? Lol. Imaging having nothing better to do than troll pickleball videos. Sad
