Muchas gracias por este vídeo! No es fácil para mí el vibrato... pero creo que tocar al mismo tiempo que tú me ayudará mucho a seguir mejorando! 👏👏👏👏👏💜🎶💜🎻
Really like your videos- I learned a lot about the actual motion of the hand. I think I understand the placement of the fingers on the string toward the inside tip (a close-up of your fingers in the video would be helpful). I also really appreciated your comment about violin set-up- it's not a simple thing and it does change a little over time. I'll watch out for that video as well as anything related to identifying/ eliminating tension. Also, I'm curious if you have a link for your shoulder rest- looks pretty hefty, I'd like to check it out. Many thanks.
Hey Pat! Thanks for the comment! I'm getting antsy to get a violin set-up video out as I've received a few comments about it and I really want to have the information on the channel. It should be one of the next ones I work on. The 'shoulder rest' I use right now is more of a glorified foam pad. I like it compared to others because it doesn't slip around once attached. It's called AcoustaGrip. I also recommend the Mach One as a more traditional shoulder rest option for a lot of my students.👍
I have been struggling with vibrato for a long time, and cannot get beyond the exercises. I am on Suzuki book 7 with private lessons. Looking at your video, I can do the exercises quite well when glancing toward the violin. However, if I look forward, the hold on the violin deteriorates and it slips, and the exercises deteriorate. I discovered this as a result of your video.
Hmmm interesting. I wonder what's going on. At Suzuki Book 7, you definitely want to get this addressed. My guess is that there is some issue with violin set-up. Feel free to reach out for a private lesson with me and I can address it specifically. My email is davidp.violin@gmail.com.
Thank you so much for your wonderful videos!
Glad you like them!
Excellent! This has really been helping me with vibrato. I couldn’t wait for these tutorials. Thank you so much! You explain it so well!
Great to hear! Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you, David. I’ve been waiting for your lessons on vibrato. I was one of those who asked for it about two years ago. Bless you!
My pleasure!

I hope so! It’s a process for sure. Good luck!
Thanks ❤

How do you try not to move your thumb and the vibrated finger while doing vibrato? Everytime I do it, my thumb and the other fingers move.
This is just what I’m looking for. Like these videos about techniques!
Love it! Glad you’re finding them helpful.
