Sounds Great!! :3 PS: Does someone know where can I get the version Mischa Elman plays? I guess its copyright time is over (the arranged sheet of Music, I have already looked at imslp)
i’m playing that piece right now 😂
May I ask you for an advice? I am practicing vibrato for a few month now. I watched your video and several others to learn it properly. And as long as I practice seperately everything is fine - my violin teacher says, the motion is right. But as soon as I try to integrate it in practicing a piece it seems as my Fingers forget about the motion and my whole left hand gets stiff. Especially in 1st position (third feels better). My teacher (he is russian and we have some understanding Problems because he doesn't speak german very well) thinks it is a problem of left hand and bow hand not working properly together, but why does it feel like my left hand forgets about the motion and falls in some kind of fear stiffness? I would be so thankful for some advice from you. Kind regards from Germany, Sabrina
Too much vibrato for a barroque piece
Definitely. 👍 I’m playing the Suzuki rep in the way that I like to teach them at this level, which doesn’t include using limited vibrato as an ornamentation. I start talking about that usually starting in the Handel sonatas. 👍
Thanks for your consideration. It would be my honor to cooperate with you 🥰 These are some videos edited by me th-cam.com/users/shortspEy06jzw27Y?si=CvoavYfxEK0tWUpe th-cam.com/users/shortsKw3be68Mi-Q?si=Frb5P9HdAwmE18SX

Thanks so much!
I saw your comment on a violin TH-cam channel. You're looking for an editor with music experience. We can work together. I've been playing violin for 9 years. And also I can make or edit videos. Listen to music, play the violin and editing are my favorite hobbys. I'm interested in classical music. Thanks for your attention in advance ❤
Thanks for reaching out! I’ll keep you in mind next time I have a project that I want assistance with. Do you have a video you’ve edited that I could check out?

Thank you!
These play though are helping me as I am playing these books I am doing book 6
Glad to hear they’re helpful!
Hy ,may I please ask ,how long will getting a hang of vibrato be
Good question without a clear answer. Many techniques can we learned in a week or two with very concerted effort. Vibrato…… is not really one of those. I personally had an unlock moment maybe a year into having a regular vibrato exercise as part of my routine. Just throw a little thoughtful time at it daily and it will unlock gradually. Definitely possible to develop a pleasant vibrato in under a year if you’re focused.
One of the most comprehensive videos on vibrato technique for beginners. Thank you so much!
Thanks so much! Glad you thought so.
You will get pulled if you are playing this as Suzuki, and trying to influence Suzuki. SAA does not want people doing this on YT and they will get it kicked.
I thought so too actually before looking into it. Turns out the SAA does allow the posting of recordings, but not the monetization of them. So any video with songs that they have the rights to I don’t make anything from ad revenue. 👍
@ good to know. It’s why I won’t do it. I don’t feel I should give my lessons away for nothing.
Any tips on practicing so the right hand doesn’t partially try to return and cause more scratch
Hmm I’m not quite sure what you mean. Care to elaborate?

Obrigado! 😊
i got this as a concert wish me luck ❤
Good luck!
What is the attachment that you are resting the violin on?
Hi Francie! It’s just a shoulder pad. Acoustagrip is the brand. I like it because it doesn’t slip around after I put it on.
Absolutely amazing! Lovely played, amazingly articulated sound. By the way, really instructive the way you have used the several cameras. Love it! Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much Antonio!
Loved this video and both of your channels. I'm trying to get better.
Thanks Eric! Keep practicing.👊
The overhead angle is super helpful. Thanks for this! Always working on improving.
I'm glad it's helpful!
Can you explain why you usually start from half position? I really like your exercises but wonder if it is somehow less good to start from 1st position? Especially when going to 3rd?
Hey John! Good question. It's one I haven't thought that critically about till now. It's just the way the exercises are written in the Suzuki books. On thinking about it though I do have some thoughts: 1. I don't think of the exercise as starting in half position. Rather I just think of the first note as a low 1 in 1st position. I only really think of being in half position if many of my finger placements are below their usual position. 2. I think the low 1 is chosen perhaps because it makes the shifts easier to hear. I think the priority is arriving at the new position at a note that is scalar in relationship to the note in 1st position. 3. At the end of the day, it probably doesn't matter much where you start from as long as you are ingraining the correct fundamentals of shifting. Feel free to adapt it and start from a neutral 1 and it will work just as well. 👍
Superb Playing! Really nice. A lot to learn from your way of playing. Spark, clean, brilliant sound. Congratulations. Thanks a lot for sharing!
Thanks Antonio!
Later pieces no video?
I only have up through Suzuki Book 6 at the moment. Stay tuned for the rest.👍
Really like your videos- I learned a lot about the actual motion of the hand. I think I understand the placement of the fingers on the string toward the inside tip (a close-up of your fingers in the video would be helpful). I also really appreciated your comment about violin set-up- it's not a simple thing and it does change a little over time. I'll watch out for that video as well as anything related to identifying/ eliminating tension. Also, I'm curious if you have a link for your shoulder rest- looks pretty hefty, I'd like to check it out. Many thanks.
Hey Pat! Thanks for the comment! I'm getting antsy to get a violin set-up video out as I've received a few comments about it and I really want to have the information on the channel. It should be one of the next ones I work on. The 'shoulder rest' I use right now is more of a glorified foam pad. I like it compared to others because it doesn't slip around once attached. It's called AcoustaGrip. I also recommend the Mach One as a more traditional shoulder rest option for a lot of my students.👍
👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
Great video! Hey, what does the thumb do? Does it move or stay still? I can't make my thumb stationary on a fixed point. I can't see you thumb, so I'm assuming it doesn't move. I know you said to make it counter the pressure of the fingers, but it seems physically impossible, lol.
Hi Simon! The thumb should apply a very slight amount of counter-pressure and should stay pretty much still. If you're finding it difficult to keep the thumb stationary, I'm assuming there is some tension in the way you are supporting the instrument-- potentially gripping the neck with the thumb and base of the index finger. Keep an eye out for my violin setup video, which I'm working on now.
@@priceviolinacademy Cool. Great thanks! Let me know when your next video drops.
Do only thing not to release is the bow
I try to praise my young musician for all the hard work she puts in. Talented or not, that's not something she had any control over. But she does have the choice to keep practicing till she gets it right, push patiently through frustrating passages, play instead of watching tv, and keep trying even when it's not coming out the way she would like. I agree many talented young people expect it to always come easily, and give up as soon as their gift runs them into their first real challenges. Dedication is a choice.
Amen.
quite useful, particularly the angles from which various points are illustrated
Thanks, glad it was helpful!
Glad to have found your channel, you're straight to the point and record the bow hand from various perspectives. Perfect for beginners without a teacher :)
Glad to hear the channel's helping you out!
I cannot begin to tell you how much these are helpful to me. I have no teacher so I am recording myself, then playing your recordings and comparing then adjusting. I am getting better thanks to this resource.
It means a lot to hear that! So glad the videos are helpful for you!
Thank you for sharing this video! Fantastic to see the finger movements from a top-down!
Glad it was helpful!
You might have mentioned somewhere but is there a reason you do thirds from the lower number of the finger? I have been playing from the lower note which seems to be normal practice and we get told that the lower note gets more emphasis generally. Thanks
Good question. I've actually gone back and forth on this one. You're right that the lower note should get more emphasis and generally it's also the more difficult one to hear clearly. If you choose to do the lower note first, I think it makes it a little easier to hear and also a little easier to reach back for larger intervals. In general I adopt the rule of thumb to set almost all chords with the lower number finger first. I do this because it is easier to adjust higher number fingers once lower number fingers are down rather than vice versa. Give it a try and I think you'll feel what I'm talking about. This is the order of operations I generally default to in pieces generally and especially in Bach fugues. With thirds specifically I actually think it's useful to practice them both ways, but I tend to start with lower finger first unless the student has very small hands. Hope that helps.
I can't find your video on how to hold the violin. Can you show me please?
Working on it right now! Stay tuned.
Thank you so much🎉i’m going to practice base vibrato now, hope its not a long way to advanced level🎉😂
You can do it! Be patient. Vibrato takes time.
Very useful exercises indeed - many thanks :-) Judging from what is visible in the video, it looks as if, on the downward shift, that you use the curve at the end of the neck to identify where you position your thumb - would I be right in thinking this?
Not a bad thought. I would say that I don't actually use it to feel 1st position and I would recommend not doing so. Reason being that I think that the thumb would be too far back if you had it actually get all the way to the curve at he end of the neck. It is close though. Happy practicing!
I have to do this for my music exam 😭
Hope it went well!
@ it did! Now I have to study for my other exams lmao

I have the opposite issue. I string cross with my wrist too much and I don’t return to a good elbow height so I transfer arm weight incorrectly. I can’t seem to string cross with the elbow at the right height 😭
Maybe focus on keep weight engaged on the string crossing. It's pretty hard to have a an elbow position that is too low if the weight remains pronated. Good luck!
Thank you!
Welcome!
Please u said the exercises are in suzuki book 2 ... please if u could drop the link to download here ...wè would really like it
Here's a link 👍: amzn.to/3UqW25y
Thanks for the simple yet very important video! If possible, could you do one that explains hand frames in very high positions, where im totally lost with how to move my thumb together with the hand frame, and where the thumb shd or shd not be. Not just on the E strings but other string as well. The thumb feels like it is leaving the neck onto the side of the finger board. Thank you and no worries if u cant make this video.😊
Good question. I'll keep that video in mind. In the meantime these are phases that the hand frame goes through in different positions: Positions 1-3: Thumb moves straight towards the bridge. Positions 4-8: Thumb gradually comes under the instrument to eventually rest on the curved part of the neck. Positions 8-13 ish: Thumb stays in the same place and the hand extends to higher positions Positions 13-stratosphere: The thumb moves to the right side of the neck and even can rotate around the shoulder of the instrument eventually. Hope that helps.
how do you get that little accent on every note while playing legato? Is it from your vibrato when you drop your fingers or from your wrist?
This actually came up in a recent master class. The short answer is to keep arm weight consistently engaged with very relaxed hand and fingers. Heavy arm. Soft hand. Hope that helps.
