- Richard Gadd says it was challenging to relive past trauma while making the Netflix series "Baby Reindeer." He created and stars in the series based on his Edinburgh Fringe one-man show, a dark comedy/thriller/romance based on the comedian's real-life relationship with a stalker. Started watching it last night. Thought I would watch an episode or two…cut to 3 am and I’m struggling to stay awake to finish the final episode! This is such an honest piece of work. Intense emotions, suspenseful, thrilling, gut wrenching vulnerability, genuine & funny, actually. I could go on. It has stayed with me today. I’m still unpacking pieces and parts. I realize it is making me look inward and recategorizing past events and my responses to them. This is the purpose of true art. It holds a up mirror, and if we are lucky enough, we know to truly look at that reflection. 🌟
We stayed up late (1am) watching it last night and feel the same as you did. Still "unpacking" it to use your term. Disturbing and so sad.
Beautifully said. Same here. Woke up thinking of the tiny reindeer story. Had me in tears. The empathy and heart is profound.

I loved it, can’t even explain why, it’s a true masterpiece. Such a brave story, especially acting it yourself, and re-going through that trauma. He will help so many people alongside the actress who co starred with him, truly wonderful, for reasons you couldn’t explain. It makes you think deeply.

So I watched his comedy skit when that was depicted in the show. Nothing like the real thing. It was genius, his skit was very clever , very emotional. How a person can take his most devastating ,traumatic moments in his life and make people laugh about it. IT WAS BITTER SWEET. I HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR THIS MAN. IT WAS BRILLIANTLY DONE

When life gives you lemons you make lemonade out of it. You really can say that in this case. Imagine you feel cursed when in the end it was a blessing. He just made a one man show out of his experience that gave him many awards and a netflix show that now is NR. 1 around the globe! What a great story of success! He deserves all the fame and glory for his achievement!

I think a lot of young people go through this disgusting traumatizing experiences, I found it extremely disturbing but also these stories need to be told 🙏🏻💕

Wow man I was thinkin the dude that played him in the show just had he’s breakout moment and that he’s an absolutely amazing talented actor but it was his story maybe that’s why it was so powerful of a performance because it wasn’t really a performance
You know a show is something different when one pressing question an interviewer has is "are you ok???"

I started the series at about 1:30 am , I started watching episode 1 and i was tired and i said if it catches my interest ill continue watching and i broke day!! Watching every single episode. Ii experienced the grape moment . And i wont speak now but im going to document it. Even though it was in past

The stand up comedy show that actual did , the one depicting the show was very different but it was similar in ways of telling his story and coming out. I enjoyed that show.. it was super clever. Sad funny ... I'm so impressed with this man.

He’s a very bizarre individual
The series are a great lesson how to earn money from your trauma. All I've watched is one insecure man, hungry for attention, ready to receive it at any price, no matter if he uses a mentally unstable woman, casting director, or whatever. I personally believe that you don't respect yourself at all, and that's why you were in the middle of the drama all the time.
To cringe for me. Quit after episode 4 or 5 👎🤢🤮
The show did get extremely dark around those episodes, started of quite light hearted, usually I don't watch things with the type of content in but when you consider that the things in those episodes actually happened to this guy it does ignite alot of empathy and a desire to want to know what happened next (I watched the entire show thinking "Who ever this happened to I feel really bad for and hope their life got better") before realising this guy was the victim and creator. So I gotta give him a huge amount of respect for sharing these things to the world and allowing himself to put himself back in that dark place. As these things do happen to people, especially the grooming and taking advantage of people in the entertainment industry
