From what I know on her story....what hard fate this girl had. She did not know her father, the mother was a complete alcoholic and constantly gave birth to many siblings, 8 of which died. Her mother did not feed her, constantly hitting and even tried to drown her in the bathtub but in the end she threw her away in the night like a kitten on the street with a broken collarbone. 3 year old Diana was picked up on the street by her own relatives, but since she did not talk at all, they thought that she was mentally retarded and gave her to an orphanage. From the orphanage, she was taken by her foster mother and in 5 years gave her to vocal courses to develop her speech. It is through the efforts of the foster mother that we see this unique treasure

I really enjoy your reactions concerning Diane..AKA the phenomena. One thing you have not addressed is her outstanding theatrics which is different with each song. Its like she becomes the character she is singing about. Her mastery of her vocals and her acting is unmistakable and we are witnessing a voice that only comes along in 2-3 generations, if we are lucky.
