Thank you so much! You must have read my mind. I just purchased a music book Titled The Artistry of Anthony Jackson a few weeks ago. This is one of my favorite song of all time. You gave a great insight technique with the thumb. I'm a new bass lady on the block so this lesson came in perfectly just in time. Your a good teacher ! Thanks!
I believe this song is damn near perfect for learning technique: alternating picking w/thumb or pick, string skipping, finger dexterity, ghost notes (with or without a pick), speed. haven't really seen/watched the thumb technique you're using, outside of Bernard Edwards. I think I'm gonna start using it, because it's a nice middle ground between straight plucking with the fingers, & the more harsh(?) attack of a pick. Good stuff, for sure!
I usually play guitar. But practice bass on certain lines I like I do it play with fingers. My fingers always bruised playing my PBass break out the ice 😮

great lesson but i think the audio and the video are a little off and it`s a bit confusing because what I can see and hear are a fraction of a second off..it is still helping alot tho..thanks
I was just talking today to a student about the thumb technique! He said, that's similar to strumming a guitar! Lol! I had also told him the perfect way to learn a new technique is to find a song using the technique and play it over and over. Much more fun than sitting down doing exercises. Play music!!! This is the perfect song for learning this thumb technique. Thank you for the timely upload!!!!
