Igor came out a couple weeks before I ended a a 4 year relationship. For the last few months I was working out of state. I listened to this on the flight 5h back to see them to end the relationship. It was painfully relatable. I don’t think I can listen to ‘bye, thank you’ w/o feeling intense sadness and nostalgia. I was completely done with my ex but we have 4 years worth of memories. It sucks. Not only because of the relationship but because it reminds me of how life was right before covid. Summer’19 was so fun and I was so much more optimistic

this gets even more spicy when you realise the even deeper contexts within igor: the love story is one to another guy, it is cyclic, meaning it starts on a note that works with the note it ends on, even the story within the album loops seamlessly.
I’m so happy people are starting to give Tyler the homage he has deserved for so long. Let’s be really serious…a lot the hate towards Tyler comes from hyper masculinity in the rap community and his refusal to conform - completely overlooking how insanely talented he is.

Tyler and OF as a whole are a huge part of the journey that I’ve had growing as an artist, for me at least it wasn’t long before I understood Tyler on a deeper level than the shock humor and such, and it wasn’t hard to either, Bastard was a very emotionally deep album, idk if maybe just a lot of people didn’t see it as such or just ignored any of the lyrics that weren’t “KILL PEOPLE BURN SHIT FUCK SCHOOL!”, but it was there if you allowed it to be heard for sure… he spoke of his issues with his father abandoning him from the jump, he spoke of his anxiety from the jump, he spoke of being misunderstood from the jump, it was all there. But anyway, Tyler beating out Khaled was so cool to see, meaningless music has been the most popular for so long, seeing people have more depth is always a great thing.
I’m going to guess it’s my TH-cam tripping because it’s just a black screen for me but 3 minutes in 💀the dialogue can carry the video alone I guess that something 🐸
I always believed that Tyler was greater than people saw him. He’s always been an incredible producer and rapper for me, and only 6 months months ago is when I truly started opening up to his music. I love Tyler now and a bunch of his music is always on my playlists.
The thing about Tyler is that he's honest and pours himself in his music. When you listen to his music, you see him; not 20 other popular artists who are obviously there just to amp up the views. DJ Khaled, while he did make some fun songs, stuck with the same sound and aesthetic and even when he speaks you can tell he's not being himself but the version of him that he thinks hip-hop fans would like to see. Acts like these get old pretty soon but people like Tyler can always reinvent themselves with every project.
Khaled has been doing his persona so long that it’s just him now. Sad to see. Like you could bump into him on the elevator 1on1 and he’d just talk in catchphrases
I love Tyler he dares to be different. In a world where society tells you what's normal, it's nice to see a artist doing his own thing. Igor was a great album.
The fact that Khaled got successful in the first place without an ounce of talent or hard work speaks everything there is to say about the cesspool that is the music industry.
You obviously don’t know the amount of hard work required to release multiple top ten charting, gold+platinum albums. If it didn’t take talent or hard work, everyone would be doing it
Yes, hard work, but talent? No. Imagine if everyone got “famous” for hard work… Khaled might as well be a really good janitor as far as I’m concerned. Except that wouldn’t be fair to most janitors cuz they are hard working, but not buffoons.
U ppl dont know nothing about Khaleds history and yall want to talk music? Embarrassing fr. Tell Tyler to get Drake, Lil Wayne, Future, Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye or Lil Baby on a track. They wont even open up his DM cause they dont respect him the way they respect khaled. He has all the pull. Hard work and and being a good hearted guy.
He isn’t that hubmble imo, but he is honest and seems very much aware of his strengths and weaknesses, I’ve heard him saying in interviews that he sees himself as a great producer and arranger but he hates his singing voice. Also he brags kind of a lot on CMIYGL but still he does that tastefully and it’s all very well deserved
The difference is Khaled made music he thought people wanted to hear and Tyler made music he wanted to make. As Biggie said "only make moves when your heart is in it" its all about that inner motivation!
Tyler is one of the best artists of our generation, many people knew that already, but I am so happy he made it more mainstream. Need more innovators like him.
The only reason he blew up mainstream wise and was even finally recognized at the innovator awards was because he came out of the closet. If he didn’t. People still wouldn’t have given him credit.

@@SLyDenvibes I've always felt we got a little bit of Tyler from everything he's done, but I'm sure Flower Boy was it. I definitely need to sit and listen to the album to make an actual assessment
There's nothing wrong with either kind or type of music. However to say Khaled's music is better is wrong. Music is something natural, it grows, changes, alternates and reflects how we are at the moment. This is why truly great music is timeless, it stays throughout generations, it is something that you listen to alone or with others and most importantly, it makes you emotional. This is why the greats have so much emotion, passion, and raw energy into the lyrics, the notes and mood of it all. Good music makes you pass the time. Great music makes you realize time is passing, and you enjoy it all.
Khaled music might be last but not last longer in mainstream for another period of time. It might be only last to niche amount of people in the end of time and one that touches emotions and provoke nostalgia of how good it felt when you heard it as you were younger or first time hearing into it will stay on top forever. Tyler will be the latter one of course. He will be remembered
Also, from what I remember, a bit after Tyler took the #1 spot, Billie Eilish’s debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” was released as well, which not only hit #1, but knocked Khalid down to #3. That probably pissed him off even more lol
Great analysis and conclusion. I don't listen to a lot of Tyler the creator music, but you gotta respect his process and results! A case study in doing you and letting the right people vibe with you
Amazing video dude. I got into tyler just like a month before he dropped flowerboy. I admire how he is never afraid to explore and branch out his music. he has basically created a new mainstream
tbh people won't be using a song in the radio, barber shops or anything if they dont have some sort of attachment into it could also be those random playlist made but u get my point
Khaled makes music that is of the moment in time that it is being made. This means he jumps on all the names and trends that he sees as the formula for success in a numbers game. To a certain extent this has worked and it is true for a certain demographic. As an artist or executive producer though you never see him be vulnerable or grow as an artist outside of what the pop scene is doing and how to jump onto it. Tyler on the other hand is making more personal music for himself and if others like it thats cool too. No doubt he is thinking of sales numbers as well but it is more a side thought and not the focus. Tyler will take risks to get his concept and art out there into the world, sometimes it works and other times not so much, but each time you feel you got a piece of who he is included in the project. He also makes a much more timeless album that you can return to, chill to, reflect on and even get turnt up to but no matter what his honesty and willingness to lose out on potential sales, awards or positioning to get his thoughts out really is what makes him one of the more interesting and compelling artists to watch currently.
NGL, as often as possible as soon as I hear a song that DJ Khaled money shottin' his own name in self pleasure over a song, I flick it off. In this case, I'm supper happy that his stuff all sounds like the same song, so I can catch it early and be on my way. It's a win/win sitch, really. There's a huge difference and also a great of overlap between branding and producing. Khaled's talent has grown as a brand face; but it's tough to see where that correlates in terms of producing because his actual input during the last couple decades of work are more focused on recycling a song with a few sound stamps of his name and a few others in receding echoes rather than putting out unique pieces.
Yeah there’s two lessons in this from Tyler’s perspective don’t be afraid to take artistic risk as well as it that could affect being on the top by Tyler still went for it and it worked out for him, which gives me hope. And DJ Khaled to actually “BE HUMBLE” as he always just makes trendy music and once someone beats him to the top his whole “humble” image is broken and he can’t even practice what he preaches only for us to see it was really about ego.
Tbh this video really shows the importance of music. Igor had a massive impact on me, changed my life while Dj khaleds album was only an album some hits but mostly with boring songs on it which made me lose an hour and lose an hour.
The whole situation speaks to how something genuinely well made and thought out with real artistic value can outshine something made for the sole purpose of being popular (at about 4:08 Khaled literally admits that this is the thing he cares about most), no matter how much backing it may have.
Tormented people like Tyler are usually the best artists. They can speak directly to people's hearts and feelings. Because the majority of people are like him. Not like DJ Khaled. Obviously I recognize the merits of DJ Khaled but he is the representation of the commercial part of the industry (music and visual art), the lights the glitter and glamour. Tyler is the uncoishious, the personal and that's why

You can thank Capitalism for brining this mess

There's nothing wrong with either kind or type of music. However to say Khaled's music is better is wrong. Music is something natural, it grows, changes, alternates and reflects how we are at the moment. This is why truly great music is timeless, it stays throughout generations, it is something that you listen to alone or with others and most importantly, it makes you emotional. This is why the greats have so much emotion, passion, and raw energy into the lyrics, the notes and mood of it all. Good music makes you pass the time. Great music makes you realize time is passing, and you enjoy it all.
Khaled hears music and only sees dollar signs. He has no love for art.
Neither do what you said...Neither... their music is utter toilet .... 10 years from now ...none of it will be of any substance

Amazing video dude. I got into tyler just like a month before he dropped flowerboy. I admire how he is never afraid to explore and branch out his music. he has basically created a new mainstream
tbh people won't be using a song in the radio, barber shops or anything if they dont have some sort of attachment into it
could also be those random playlist made but u get my point

Tyler’s music always evolves. Khalid’s music stays the same. That separates them from one being an artist and one a one trick pony.
Being humble is crazy important idk if a lot of ppl realize that
