Great video with some classic lines. I literally laughed to the point where my side hurt several times. Are you kidding me? How do you manage to make a tech video so informative and hilarious at the same time? In talking about the battery life you thought they had figured out the 12th gen intel and “Life was going to be good for Mikey again.” TOO FUNNY! Goofing off at Costco and picked up a competitor, 7i with a 2.8k screen… hilarious!! Keep it up Mike, and thanks for the laughs.
Wow...i loved your review! Can't wait to try the laptop at Best Buy. I 100% agree with you regarding the centrally located keyboard and the trackpad. HP Spectre keyboards are my favourite.
I like the physical hollow click on the trackpad. I got my first m2 mac last week expecting some kind of euphoric trackpad experience but didnt like it and returned the mac
Really appreciate the huge emphasis on battery life, especially real-world use and subjective experiences. Battery life is so crucial for today's use cases and yet most reviewers gloss over this aspect with some meaningless video playback test or continuous web surfing test (better but still not entirely realistic). Intel does not seem to realize that for most ultraportable owners, the biggest advantage of M1 is its sheer efficiency in terms of thermals (fan noise) and battery life, and not pure performance numbers which they seem dead set on matching. Intel also seem to be being a little scummy with the Evo branding, as I believe that the battery life requirement only applies to FHD models. Many reviewers use the higher resolution displays as an excuse for poor battery life on windows laptops, but Apples laptops all manage amazing battery life even with high res displays! AMD seem to be doing better on this front, if only their 6800u chips were actually available. TLDR: 1) Please continue doing in-depth battery life analysis and commentary in future videos 2) Windows manufacturers + Intel need to work on battery life even with high res displays.
Thanks for watching and joining the conversation. Glad it was helpful and agree on the M1. Battery life is one of the biggest deals for portable devices because most folks don't want to carry a charger around anymore.
I pick this laptop up thanks to your great review. Luckily I got the open box deal from best buy for $800 in amazing condition. Specs that I got is the QHD+ OLED 90hz, 16gb ram, and 512gb ssd in Oatmeal color.
just got the new 7i and it checks all the boxes. Screen could be a little brighter but it's not terrible. Got it for 760 with 8gb ram 512gb and 12th gen i5. Feel it was a pretty good deal!
Excellent review man!! I like the way you describe the things. Feels like the honest review on a product from a consumer perspective. And I have subscribed your channel. :-) Thanks.

Just picked up what I think is THE spec pick of 2022: Yoga 7 gen 7 with 2.8K screen, 16GB, 512GB and - best of all - the Ryzen 7 6800U. Higher TDP limits set by the manufacturer than in the Asus Zenbook 13 S but with the same integrated RDNA graphics. This laptop is probably the best Windows competitor for the M2 MBAir. Class leading battery life, more powerful than a i7 1260P but runs cool and quiet. Ticks all the boxes for a productivity daily driver (non-power user). Can even do some decent gaming. Not bad for under £1,200.👍🏽
@@mikedropstech Will do. Also sorry - I forgot to add the 'but': it's not yet available in the US so it's been missed by most reviewers and there's no buzz about this laptop compared to the Slim 7 and the Slim 7 Pro X etc. I'm sure it'll break ground in 2023 though especially as the integrated graphics are so powerful.
@@mikedropstech what if it was Yoga 7i 2-in-1 14" 2.2K Laptop - Intel Evo Platform - Intel Core i7-1355U with 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD vs Yoga 9i 2-in-1 14" 2.8K OLED Touch Laptop with Pen - Intel Evo Platform - Core i7-1360P with 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD. Looking for a laptop for college. Would u suggest one of these over say a dell xps 13. I’m huge on battery life.
Thank you for another good video. I have noticed as well that the lines between ‘premium’ and not are becoming more and more blurred and confusing. I wondering if that is because base models are now becoming so good that there isn’t as much difference anymore?
Could be, but I think also the fact is tech has gotten so good that the high ended doesn’t need to exist anymore from a technical perspective. Manufacturers need it from a commercial perspective obviously to keep revenues and profits high.
How's it going mate, loved the vid! Just wondering, would you recommend this laptop (preferably with 16GB and 512 SSD) or say an HP spectre x360, same specs but 11th gen, for a student like me?
Dude. That’s a tough one. There’s some things I really like about the HP like the solid feeling keyboard, but then the Lenovo does look and feel a little nicer with the softer, rounded edges. If I had to choose I’d probably go Lenovo just for the newer chip and I particularly like the 14” screen size vs. 13.5 on the HP but they’re both great windows devices 😱!
Thank you sooo much sir!! Really a genuine full depth review till now As far as I have seen! I am seeing each and everyone YT video on this! No one told me the screen brightness issue!! I am actually in a deillema wether to buy M1 Pro or this 9i. A 250$ difference which i can manage. I am a windows user. My purpose (For master's in Artificial Intelligence) Can you kindly tell me which one would be best for me!! Would be loved if you have time to make a comparison video! Also would like to ask you if you could make a video for best laptops for DS/ML/AI. Haven't seen many Thank you so much sir and Wish you to review with the same energy and transparency!!🤩🤩 PS: I am a windows user (No problem with MacOs too which i should be adapting by around 2 months😅)
Well alrighty then! Glad you found the full review and thanks for sharing a little feedback. I love hearing from viewers and getting to know my community more. I was never a big social media fan but after getting on TH-cam and seeing just how great (and nice) the community is it's been so refreshing for me. Superb review buddy, consider me subscribed. I'm trying to work out which Lenovo is right for me between the Yoga 9i and the Slim 7 Pro X and then you fished the Yoga 7 out and I realised that no one has a clue what they're doing at Lenovo do they. It's like they have individual teams making laptops competing their models against each other? Note - I've just checked online and the Yoga 7 14 AMD version can rotate 360 unlike the intel version, LOL.
Dude! Thanks for the ❤️ and thanks for watching. You’re right. They’re way too confusing, the pricing is all over the place and it just makes it hard to pick one 😱
