      I am so confused about Kenra. Why are there no Kenra Schools in this country? I absolutely love Kenra and the information given by many of their professional associates. I've been an educator for a couple of brands not to mention, and I can tell you now that Kenra would be outstanding if they had Schools around the nation. I certainly would love to teach for Kenra in the educational school sector. A new generation of professionals to be would profoundly love Kenra. Just think about it!!!!

    You explained this so well, understandable, quick to the point and not letting a lot of theory into this to make someone tap out.. understanding the basics, from ground up is so important, many try (as myself did) to jump up the pyramid to the fun stuff, then soon realizing.. UH-OH.. NOW WHAT DO I DO.. I’ve always said, NOW I would like to go back to school and pay MORE ATTENTION to all the theory to retain that knowledge since now I know the importance of that to be a WONDERFUL COLORIST & Stylist. ( salon owner ) no one ever said having to much knowledge was dumb.. Thank you

      A low concentration of bleach (mixed with developer) will lift the purple out, but I would recommend using a dye remover kit (you can buy at Sallys)
      From there, if you want it lighter, you might need to bleach again which can be extremely damaging, however, which is why going to a salon is highly recommended. After bleaching use a toner for your desired color (if your hair color looks yellow, use one w/ more ash, such as Wella T18, and follow up with purple conditioner).
      Remember, if you bleach your hair, do the roots last as the heat from your scalp will mean it'll bleach faster than the rest of your hair. And, process it longer than you think. So, once your hair looks as light as you want, process for another 5-10 mins. Once it's washed and dried it won't look as light. I recommend using a powder bleach that has purple in it to cancel yellow (there are also purple additives you can add). One example is Loreal Beach Baby Lights. Mix the bleach with a developer that has Argan oil or other conditioning agents so it's not as damaging
      Do a strand test first for all of it. That way you can see what looks right, and to ensure your hair won't fall out or break. It's always better to put in the time and make sure it's ok, than destroying your hair and trying to fix it later (which at a salon costs way more)
      If you bleach it you dont need traditional hair dye, just a toner. You might even need to use a toner twice. The toner goes on wet (towel-dried) hair, not dry
      I hope this can help you. My profile pic is way old, but I currently have platinum hair, and have made quite a few....ahem...."learning experiences" in the past. I'm hoping I can help you prevent them. I bleached my hair 3 times to get to my level, and it doesn't look damaged at all. Use a deep conditioner after every bleach process, and don't wash your hair for as long as possible before bleaching. I know the word "bleach" can put people off, but it's not as scary as it seems. Hair can withstand a lot....
      I work at an Aveda salon and we call our bleach "enlightener" just to not scare people

    So from my understanding, when the box says “cool blonde”, it lightens the hair and adds purple/violet pigments, right? (Instead of having actual blond colored pigments).
    However there are many box dyes that also claim to cover gray as well, so won’t that dye the gray part violet??

    it is really important to memorize the complements of each color to have the expected result. although at the beginning of the video you say that if we mix the 3 primary colors in equal parts we will get brown... it is false because if we really mix equal parts we will get black or gray... I am still learning thanks for this extra explanation for those of us who are learning ! 😗

    • @KenraProfessional
      @KenraProfessional  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sinai! Thanks for your feedback! Let's break this down a bit more.
      When we want to tone yellow out of the hair for a neutral or beige end result, we would use a violet-based toner. Violet is comprised of red and blue. Therefore, mixing red and blue (violet) with yellow makes beige at the higher levels. Taking it a step further, we consider a beige result to be considered a neutral brown at lower levels when it comes to hair. We wouldn't expect a gray or black result at that point, so this is why we speak to it being brown.
      We could also speak to this at varying levels. Let's say we have orange hair at around a level 6 from pre-lightening. Orange is comprised of red and yellow. In order to neutralize, we would then need to add blue to make a brown result. Once again, the same primary pigments are all being mixed together to make a brown or neutral end result. We hope this helps!

    Level 2 is often described as SOFT BLACK / BROWN-BLACK / DARKEST BROWN. Darker hair has more Pigment ( Melanin ) which makes it harder to lighten also some hair types have a larger diameter, denser structure, larger pigment granules or some combination of these which make some dark hair easier or harder to lighten than others.

    I am working in a salon so I know it’s a beginning of my career so I want to know like how can we mix colours to make another colour

    • @KenraProfessional
      @KenraProfessional  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Madhu! Using the color wheel of the particular line you're working with will help you to understand what bases are in the shades and can help you to come up with the perfect custom shade depending on what you are looking to achieve! You will also need to take into consideration if you need to neutralize any underlying pigment in the lifting process to maintain the desired end result. For example, if you need to cancel out copper tones, you may want to look at incorporating a color that has blue in its base, because colors that live opposite of each other on the color wheel help to neutralize each other. We hope this helps!

      For the purpose of hair color, on the visual spectrum, those are the primaries that we use for color calibration and formulation. Red, blue, yellow terminology is easier to digest and understand when learning basics of hair color theory.

    Who would natural blonde hair turn green in a swimming pool?

    • @KenraProfessional
      @KenraProfessional  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! This would vary from person to person as well as pool to pool. Because of the chlorine mixing with minerals (like copper) found in the hair due to hard water or mineral build up, combining that with the porosity levels of the person's hair sets the stage for the possibility of a visual change in color. Kenra Clarifying Shampoo is a great tool to deeply cleanse the hair before and after pool use to help prevent that from happening. We hope this helps!
