For anyone watching this later on, you need e46 M3 csl / E85/6 Z4M brake rotors to perfectly fit on the stock e46 hub. 345x28mm is it’s size. You then need stock e90 335i caliper assemblies like in the video and stock e90 335i pads will work fine. You then need 335i stock brake lines and wear sensors to account for the increased distance the caliper is when the wheel is turned etc. you’re welcome! Everything is bolt on at that point.
im buying 335 calipers tomorrow and i wanna put them on my car the only thing i dont get about this is why you need the spacer and why you needed to modify it im running style 167s 19x8.5 up front right now if its for a wheel clearance issue, can you dumb it down a bit for a guy XD
also should i get 335 rotors for upfront or should i get M3 rotors, i also saw some guys use regular 330 rotors for a setup like this but i thought those would be to small for that size caliper
For the front the 335i rotors are to deep for e46 hub. That's why I had to use the spacer to push the rotor a bit forward. However, I'm looking to get e46m3 csl rotors. Csl rotors has almost the same amount of brake surface but slightly thin. E46m3 csl(345×28) 335i (348x30).
@@BreakaBolt ok so i will 100% need spacers to make 335 calipers work? i can get a hook up on 335 rotors but i dont know about M3 rotors yet i just got the calipers yesterday so im cleaning them up right now trying to see what all i need before i start tearing into this job.
Break a Bolt I own a 2011 335i Xdrive and I wanna upgrade my calipers on my whip. What do you recommend that’s not that expensive. I really want brembos
I haven't done this retro fit, but a quick search on the forums should help you out. found this e90.spoolstreet.com/threads/diy-f30-m-performance-brakes-on-e90-e92-e93-guide.2941/
The wheel adapter has a small lip after the custom ring for the wheel to center. Its not much but it is able to hold the wheel centered. I'may get another hub centric ring pressed from the inside of the adapter to extend a bit more.
I'm not sure if they have a direct fit. However, I have seen people use BMW 135i , F30 and Porsche 996 brakes with adapters. I think 135i and 996 are made by Brembo and F30 may be BMW.
Thank you for the support, as I have mentioned in the video please contact the professionals before making any changes to braking system and do it on your own discretion. Regarding using the 20mm spacer and braking basic. The mating surface between the hub, spacer and the rotor doesn't have any gap, I had to grind the surface to get any rust or grime off and ensure a perfect mating surface without a gap. The spacer is hub-centric to the hub, the rotor is hub-centric to the spacer and the wheel is hub-centric to the spacer as well. All this leads to weight distribution factor. When the components are used in hub-centric, its the contact point which carry the weight of the car. I have used extended lug bolts as well, lug bolts in general are to compensate lateral force in cornering and not to hold the weight of the car. When braking the the force is transferred from pads to rotors by friction and the rotor transfers to the hub and reduce the speed of wheel and shifts the weight of the car on to the hub. Furthermore, I do have concerns on using the spacer in terms of handling characteristics and longevity. When I added the hub it changed the suspension geometry by pushing the wheel further away and increased the forces on the hub which may reduce the lifespan of the hub assembly and the bearings. However, what I was trying to do was to show anyone who wondered if it is possible to retro fit calipers from e90 to e46. And it is possible but it is not perfect by any means. As @Valentine comment I'm looking into the possibility of using E46 CSL disk without spacers, so I wont have to change the suspension geometry. and if I do get a good set of BBK for good price I'll probably go with that set.
Weight distribution😂 seriously what motorsports or mechanical qualifications do you have. Also you don't need to space anything out there to utilize calipers if there genuine brembos off BMW 1M swap the brembos carrier left to right also there are caliper adapter mounts.

The rotors are around 480$ for a pair and that’s the cheapest you will find them.
Yep. I used e46 M3 CSL rotors.

What about using BMW e46 CSL disc that is 345mm and you dont need spacer inside the disc ? Would be a straight swap.
I'll look in to it
Any info?
Hi, nice video! What about the rears? I know you're keeping m3 ones but will 335i rear calipers + disc?? Git on a non-M e46? Thanks
Hi! E60 525/530 has the same calipers, but for 324mm disc, so is it fully bolt-on to stock e46 330 which has 325mm disc?
I cannot confirm about the fitment for e60. Since I haven't tested on one. The hub design could be different on e60.
@@BreakaBolt no, I mean if take calipers from e60 and screw it on e46
nice

I have an updated video coming in for the 335i brake setup. E46 m3 csl/zcp rotors. Fit perfectly. It's a direct bolt on.
So you out e46 M break calipers on a e90??????? How much did you pay for the e46 calipers?
Its E90 335i front calipers on a E46 wagon, I got the calipers from the donor car.
Break a Bolt I own a 2011 335i Xdrive and I wanna upgrade my calipers on my whip. What do you recommend that’s not that expensive. I really want brembos
@@prettyfe2462 I haven't looked in to it much, but F30 m3 calipers seems to be a promising option. Used they are not as expensive as brembo bbk .
Break a Bolt but would the F30 M3 fit perfect to my 335i?????? I like the blue, it’ll look sick. I just wanna make sure they would fit perfect

Deve dar certo na e36 325i, pois. Pra usar o da 330i e46, então posso fazer isto de colocar o freio da 335i e90 na 325i e36
Sorry, I couldn't translate your comment.
Good video
Thank you.
So, do you use the carriers from the e46 or e90?
The carrier and wheel hub arestock e46. I used only the caliper and rotor from e90 with the 20mm adapter
why didn't you pay the extra money and get the right spacers made for the car?
I still haven't figured out if I want to get #46 M3 CSL rotors or move to an actual BBK. I'll know soon once I get the car running.
wheres the hub for the wheel to sit on?
The wheel adapter has a small lip after the custom ring for the wheel to center. Its not much but it is able to hold the wheel centered. I'may get another hub centric ring pressed from the inside of the adapter to extend a bit more.

Areyoustupid 20mm spacer behind a disc?
Aye ok deathtrap comes to mind learn braking basics first
