💻 Unboxing the ASUS Vivobook 15 (M1502) laptop 💻 I finally bought myself a laptop

- After years of not having a PC or laptop of my own and doing everything on my Samsung Fast smartphone, I finally have my own laptop.
I purchased an ASUS Vivobook 15 (M1502) form Staples (Bureau en Gros as it's known in Quebec) on Friday, November 24, 2023 which was on sale for Black Friday.
The laptop was regularly priced at approximately $900 Canadian but was on sale for an amazing price of $580 Canadian.
The ASUS Vivobook 15 (M1502) runs on Windows 11, has 512 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM memory. The RAM can be upgraded to 16 GB. It has an AMD Ryzen 7 Processor.

In this video, filmed on the evening I got it, I do an unboxing and show a basic setup of the laptop as well as a quick view of a TH-cam video playing to show you how it works.
Note that when filming a screen through a camera, the image is somewhat distorted and not as clear as in person. But this video gives a good idea of what it looks like.

Yes, CD drives are no longer a thing anymore as no one does physical media anymore. it's all about USB and Clod connectivity. Even modern desktop systems no longer have CD drives. An external CD drives are quite useable.
Investing in an external SSD or hard drive solution for backup is a must.
Yep good points mate. I will invest in an external hard drive. Do you have any you recommend? You seem to know the brands.

Hey pat, yeah in the modern era of "cut everything to make the device smaller and cuter", the CD drive hasn't survived the chopping block LOL. With that said though, I have one of those portable USB CD drives and they work very well for playing back CD games/music/movies. If you need any recommendations hit me up on discord, though they're unfortunately not cheap at ~40$ each lol

Hello, Patrick. Apple user here and their port selection is horrendous. Yet, their new macbook airs cost around $2300 which is ridiculously expensive. Anyway, here’s a little rant about Apple’s scam. Enjoy your new laptop and the myriad of ports that come with it.

Hows are temperatures, and is fans loud in web browsing, watching videos etc? Did you review it?
So far the temperature is good and it never overheats. I never hear the fans at all. Web browsing and videos are great. Definitely worth more than I paid.
I used to have that computer! But it had screen glitches. It did weird things.
Oh boy. Hopefully they fixed it since then

Yes the battery is great and so far so good. I really have no complaints at all. I highly recommend buying it

I didn't notice on mine. Maybe you have the night light feature on? Check the display settings.

A basic laptop is normally 900$ WHAT!
Technically a basic laptop is closer to 500-600 but the problem is that, well, they don't build modern laptops like they used to. In the old days, a basic laptop would still be moderately durable and be able to do everything one would need. Today, a modern laptop is made of cheap, thin plastic that will crack and fall apart if you just look at it wrong, and it will overheat like crazy and slog through the most basic of tasks like web browsing.
Pat's laptop isn't technically supposed to be a basic one; coming with (presumably) a ryzen 7 5800H it might actually be fairly powerful, but looking at the build quality it's ehhh... it looks like they tried to put expensive parts in a cheap case LOL
Yeah spot on Chunky. Like we discussed many times, in the old days everything was built much better. Hopefully this one lasts and does the job! So far so good.
