A little late to this party but thanks. Your advice worked for me. None of the other videos said to leave the pin on to reset it for 5+ seconds. The first time I tried your way it only stated red for maybe 30 seconds longer than before. I did it a second time and it's been red and charging for several minutes. Like someone else said, my clip wasn't getting hot either. I still held it on for even longer the second time.

Thanks! I can't believe this worked. My battery could not hold a charge or turn on the xbox. When I plugged it into the xbox using the charging cable the battery icon on the xbox dashboard said it had a half charge. After your method, the battery accepted a 2 hour charge through and is now fully charged. It has been a day now and the battery is still holding a charge. Thank You!
This worked. First try it charged for 5 minutes and went green, repeated steps again and now my battery is like new. Wish I knew this when I got my first replacement battery. I don't know how you have any down votes because this works.

So I'm surprised to see it work. I think my pack was completely dead already so my pin didn't heat up but I did it to be safe. it is now charging longer than it was before. Which is anything longer than three seconds. Thank you for this video.
2nd battery is now charging via USB as well. I reset the circuits and plugged and unplugged USB for about 2 minutes. Reset the circuits again and plugged and unplugged and the second go around I got Red light and is now charging. If you have stubborn batteries like mine that haven't been used in over 6 months maybe longer. Give this a try. It takes a little patience but nothing to lose trying it. Just be gentle with your USB port. Good luck!
Some things to know about this
1 these batteries are explosive.
2 regular fire extinguishers dont stop lithium fires.
3 discharging too much can reverse polarize, (swap the direction power flows) ruining the cell.
Basically do this sh outside on concrete. If your charger doesnt even notice the battery in the first place then this is useless.
If your trying this with a controller with play and charge kit, i would also recommend cleaning the four gold pins at the back of the controller where the battery pack sits
I used a staple since I didn't have a paper clip. This worked! It took me two tries but worked after the second try.
Thanks man it works! Its charging now. But i have to rub the connectors using the paperclip in order for it to have any effect.

Thank you very much. got fixed both my two controllers battery. Its charging fine. I didnt have to throw those battery away. I used to play games with charging wire. Now its both wireless. :)))
To be honest didn't think it would work but gave it a try anyway. Its now working again :) cheers mate
Right, I did it and its worked thank you, but my quick charge kit is now making a buzzing noise because I really started to scratch at number 5 because I didn't see any sparks, note to anyone else doing this, it still works whether you see sparks or not, so Don't make the same stupid error that I did :)
It works! For a whole 5 seconds. Seriously.. all this does is make ot turn red for a tiny bit longer. Dont waste your time.
@MrFretfulHunter if you dont have any wire cutters, maybe try a paper clip. Really anything metal. I used a paper clip and pliers to hold it.

Better not to Short the Battery out, Use a Small Light-bulb as a Discharge Source. By Shorting out the Battery with a Paper Clip you risk the battery getting too hot you can Damage the battery causing an internal short ; and when you replace the Battery it could destroy your Charger. You Can also Use a Multimeter to check Voltage.

Best way is to plug into the PC using the USB charging cable. If you don't get red light to start with, just unplug and plug back in again. After you get red light on USB charger, batter should be able to be charged ok using Quick Charge station.

i had this problem when, i tried to charge a batty that is 1/4 bars of battery left and the red light did turn on and a min later it, went green and didn't charge. i did this and it works you don't really need to discharge the whole battery you damage it, just do 1:51 after your drain 3/4 of the battery just play a game i did this with 3 of my batteries that stayed at the 3/4 bar and now they fully charge.
Oh forgot to say that this worked for me. But, from another vid. I think a slide show would be much better though or make a better recorded video to give yourself a better image.
Thanks for the upload and I dig the tunes! Do you have any recommendations if the battery has been drained for a while and not recharged? I purchased a used "lightly used" play and charge kit" on ebay and it will not charge. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks
Sorry for the delayed reply been really busy....just till its not hot anymore, i only stopped because i didnt have proper insulation so it was getting to the point to hot to hold, but just put it down on a desk and leave it for long
I just bought two new battery pack for my controller on Ebay i threw out my old one that i had for it but it make no sense trying to fix a dead battery
I have 2 battery packs fully dead. Paper clip doesn't get hot at all. I did the Reset Battery Circuits twice on one of the batteries. Put it in plug and play repeatedly and only got green light. Decided to try using my USB charger cable with my PC. I got green light flash again. I plugged and unplugged the USB for about 2 minutes and Red light! It is now charging.
You should use a load to discharge the battery, you should never short a battery output!

Sparks are being produced and the plastic above and below the 2 and 5 chip has melted. Is it okay?

Sorry for the delayed reply been really busy....not at all man maybe the circuits inside the battery are really fried, id say just replace them, these batteries are usless ever since iv moved to standard rechargeable ones
it's not, that's why it's broken. at the end, it said "before" and the light turned instantly green, then it said "after" and the light didnt turn instantly green, meaning problem solved

permanent for me, just dont let the pack stand discharged for days on end as soon as they are flat, charge them

Didn't work for me. Maybe I left mine uncharged for too long. All four of my battery now will not charge up with the quick charger. I broke one of my 5 battery packs apart and charged the batteries individually just fine on my Ansmann Energy 8 Plus charger. I don't want to brake the other 4 battery packs open to get to the batteries. Do you have another solution for these faulty Microsoft products?
2 and 5 = plus and minus
1 and 6 = ground
3 = infomation
It charges but I play halo and when I just press RT it stops but it has 3 bars on the bat life
the redness only lasted for few extra seconds. I'll repeat it. Oh and the pin didn't get very hot in the first place. it only got very little bit more warm and not even that the second time.

For some reason the clip never heats up, but one of the Barrie's appear to be working now.

In the video it looks like on the last step you touch the pins on contacts 3 and 6. Yet in the writing you say to touch contacts 2 and 6. Can you confirm which is correct?
when the battery rechargble kit show green and red light at the same time what that means ?
My battery doesn't charge. When I plug in my quick charge kit, the green lights come on, but when I try to charge my battery no lights come on. Can someone help me out please?

How long can the discharge take? I am trying this with tweezers. They don't get hot, but I have noticed a longer interval between the charge going from red to green.
So, it's sort of working... but not completely.
Is that why my quick charge kit wont turn on when i put my battery in it?

nearly works, but not quite.... but I am trying this with a plug and play one xD
doing this trick makes the controller able to connect to the xbox, but it doesnt charge and dies after 5 seconds, or loses connection and then goes back to the green light crap =-=

I didn't realize we all came to this video to listen to the song, it's an easy mistake to make I mean I thought this video was about fixing a battery pack I didn't even begin to think that it was actually a music video... Silly me.

I call fake. I'm pretty sure the light isn't supposed to be green immediately upon placing the battery inside the charger.
