By the latter part of the war the Luftwaffe were losing 3 fighters ( and two pilots ) for every US bomber shot down in the daylight raids. Bit of trivia there for you...

@@colderwar Not even close. Galland reported to Göring in May 1944 that over the previous February to April the Luftwaffe had lost 1,000 fighter pilots killed or wounded in the West alone.

I dont doubt that sir, its just the time scale,in which it happened. Not 8 hours. This portrayal depicks,every german bullet fired hits its target,every German fighter pass takes down a bomber. What were the American escorts doing..twiddling there fingers
Whole combat boxes were wiped out in a matter of minutes, in real life, too. I can't change the behaviour of the escorts, since it is AI. I can't influence their behaviour at all, so it's no valid criticsm to tell me that the AI sucks. The highest loss number ever in the 8th air force happened while there were escorts present anyway. This video is supposed to depict the times when the germans attacked in mass at one time, to counter the escorts. The german armament got constantly increased and the number of attacks needed to down a bomber went down. You also have to consider that we aren't real pilots, but very experienced players. We could practice a whole lot of attacks in our time, while not having to worry about our health. These two factors are why our attacks might be more effective then real life ones.

"Vitamine" means "Vitamins" in german. It's code for "understood", like the americans would say "roger". IRL the germans used a lot of code words for flight information. For example "Kirchturm" i.e. "tower of a church" means "Höhe" i.e. Altitude.

Yeah, usually people complain why there are no escorts ... so I deliberately design the missions to have a lot of combat with Mustangs in them. That of course doesn't end well for the germans :D
In this mission there are 12 190s & 8 109s vs 40 P-51s and 72 B-17s, but still somebody complained that he saw no escorts. I'm just happy to see some positive non-complaining comments ;)
tbh, apart towards the start I never saw the 109s at all. Maybe I missed their contribution XD
it is also interesting to compare and contrast, watching the 190s deal much more easily with the bombers than the 109s in other videos, such as the one from the bomber crew's perspective.

The graphics are as good as ever, but for me, this mission presents an unrealistically one-sided view of the aerial conflict over Germany: in this video, the Mustangs are incapable of protecting themselves from the FW190s; much less the B17 bombers. In reality, however, as soon as the P51, with its 'seven league boots' appeared in German skies, the Luftwaffe's days were numbered
Yes well, it's a game, with 20 year old AI so yea, what can you except. Plus Luftwaffes days were numbered even before any merlin powered mustang flew over France so yea, there's that. Saying that P51D's adoption influenced the war in any meaningful way is quite retarded. Great fighter yes, but did it make any real difference for ending the war sooner or anything, I would say no.
@@TheSpekkel1 Well, I would say that if the P51 hadn't started escorting the bomber fleets over Germany, the 8th Air Force would have been forced to suspend daylight raids - they'd become too costly. Here's Wiki: 'Mission No. 84 was a strike by 376 bombers of 16 bomb groups against German heavy industry well beyond the range of escorting fighters. The mission inflicted heavy damage on the Regensburg target, but at catastrophic loss to the force, with 60 bombers lost and many more damaged beyond economical repair. As a result, the Eighth Air Force was unable to follow up immediately with a second attack that might have seriously crippled German industry. When Schweinfurt was finally attacked again two months later, the lack of long-range fighter escort had still not been addressed and losses were even higher. As a consequence, deep penetration strategic bombing was curtailed for five months.'
