Today's video is a care and breeding guide on the Star Sapphire Cichlid (Placidochromis sp. Phenochilus Tanzania). They are beautiful cichlids with amazing bright blue color, and unique chipping coloration that comes out as they mature into adults. The Star Sapphire is one of the most interesting African cichlids that you will find!
Star Sapphire cichlids are African cichlids from Lake Malawi. As a member of the haplochromis family, the star sapphire does get large and needs plenty of open water swimming space and a large tank. star sapphires are one of the most unique looking cichlids you will fine, and as long as you get a few of the basics right, keeping this placidochromis species is pretty simple.

I LOVE THIS FISH....I RECENTLY HAD 6 OF THESE FISH THAT WERE 8 INCHES LONG....ALL MALE...FULL SPECKLED OUT...ALL 6 DIED IN A TWO WEEK PERIOD....I COULDNT FIGURE OUT TO THIS DAY WHAT HAPPENED....I WAS SICK TO MY STOMACH.....I TESTED ALL THE WATER PARAMETERS...EVERYTHING WAS FINE....THANK GOD I HAVE 6 SMALLER ONES IN MY TANK...THEY ARE ABOUT 5-6 INCHES.....
