I can't imagine the snare is a pleasent death! However an incredible shot with the slingshot! He would not have known or felt a thing, just how it should be.
Well... It's life.. like.. hawks drown pigeons to kill them, stoat hunt for sport etc.. it's not pleasant I agree but I'd say it's a lot less nasty than how some animals kill prey.

You really can’t have a zero with a catapult in an open air situation because things constantly change with weather / heat and subsequent band performance. It really is just a case of familiarity and feel, over time. I’ll always try and get a few shots off first to get a feel for things.
There’s a technique for setting snares quietly if you use pegs know as heelers there short stumpy pegs and you drive them in with you heel instead of hammering pegs In and spooking the rabbits just a thought

I know this might be controversial, I live in rural Australia and I shoot feral cats, rabbits, pigs, deer, horses and foxes on a cattle property as part of my work. Obviously the foxes and bigger are way off for ethical slingshot/catapult hunting but would a feral cat be ethical? The cats in question can be as big as 12-15 kg and I normally use a .222. I only ask because of the noise and cost of ammunition for a rifle in Australia.
No way, I would not recommend that at all. Cat’s are super strong animals, and a shot misplaced by even just a few mm will only injure an animal as large and as strong as that.

Jon Edge the best way to eat rabbit in my opinion mate. I usually save up 5 or 6 rabbits and do a big one. It’s honestly amazing!
