Conques - One of The Most Beautiful Villages in France

Conques is on the list of "Les Plus Beaux Villages" (the most beautiful villages) in France and you'll get no argument from us. Not from 7 years ago when our Way of St. James ended in Conques nor now, as we began walking again.
Its original medieval layout still surrounds the Abbey for over 12 centuries in a wide semicircle with steep, narrow streets. old, Timber-frame and stone houses line the length of Rue Charlemagne, the street travelled by the pilgrims on their way to the abbey.
Little villages like Conques just have to be visited to be believed...
Planning on moving here when I'm old enough. They have internet and it's so charming. Hell yea I'm in!

I love your video! My family and I recently got home from a 3 week vacation in Europe where we visited the country town of Belluwood and the city of Paris. There is so much to see and do in France. We can't wait to go back and explore more! - Michelle :)

I was in Conques with my husband and another couple (very close friends) in the 1980s and we stayed in rooms in a house next to the church...the odd part was that this house was built into the face of a cliff overlooking the river and in entering it one did not go upstairs to the rooms but headed downstairs from the main floor into the principal part of the structure where the bedrooms were...this section was set into the face of the cliff with only the windows of each room overlooking the river below. A sort of upside down Alice in Wonderland effect.

I agree, Vive la France. We've been fortunate to visit more times than I can count. Not just Paris but Alsace, Brittany, Provence, Nice, Dordogne (pardon me if I misspell), Ardeche, walked the Stevenson, snowshoed in the three valleys, and contrary to what I often hear that the French aren't nice to visitors, have ALWAYS been received with warmth and hospitality. Nice, you've mvistited a lot. Even more than me haha. I suggest you to visit the south west of France in Aquitaine (near the Dordogne). You should go to the Pays Basque and the Landes. It's beautiful! (like most of France). Ardèche is very nice also.

Conques (Co is pronounced as Co in Coke) Not Konk. It's a beautiful beautiful little touristic place on the Santiago trail.

I get such conflicting opinions from viewers. Some like you would like longer videos but then I look at my statistics and most viewers watch an average of only 2 minutes and I think, "Why am I bothering?" My latest set of videos being uploaded slowly from Puglia region of Italy do have some 10-15 minute ones that even those were cut down severely.
