There is a somewhat similar sound on the Dash-8 variants, but I think that sound is coming from the exhaust on the engine. The FOPP-howl on the a320-family however, is at the top of the league😍
@@Odensworld_Is this howling sound also possible to hear on the A318 and A321? Where I live I can only see A319 and A320 passing by when they howl, I'm Brazilian :)
@@SeamusOR Thanks! I live in a place where I can see A319 and A320 making that howl, and sometimes A321 passing by in cruise, at the time when Avianca Brasil still existed, it operated A318 and they passed through here too, but I didn't know much about aviation, So I don't know if I've ever seen A318, and if I've ever seen them making that noise. :)
SO TRUE!!! Whenever i check Flightradar and see that one of SAS' a319/a320 ceo's are going to pass over my house on the approach, i run outside to catch it on tape. We dont know how many years we got left when it comes to hearing that beautiful sound 🥹
As a plane spotter, when spotting Airbus a320 airplanes flying overhead making those noises, playing the song, Gangsta’s Paradise, would sound really epic with those airplanes. Many jetliners have really epic noises when they fly. Gangsta’s Paradise sounds so nice along with airplanes flying.
Epic shot and AMAZING and such ICONIC sound, mate!! Too bad this FOPP Howl won't exist for long!! We must appreciate the moments before it disappears completely, like the TF-39s!!! (Which the TF-39s there was no warning when they stopped using those, so this time to be prepared the FOPP howl before goes away!!!)
Oh yesss, the TF39s were INSANE dude, that roar was AWESOME! Too bad they retrofitted the Galaxy with CF6s... We really have to enjoy these iconic sounds while they are still here!
Here in Europe I only heard the FOPP howl on Lauda, SAS and Air Serbia Airbuses. Maybe this airlines didnt install the aerodynamic cover on the fuel overpressure port
Oh yes, it really was. I dont know exactly why it became *that* loud, but i assume that the air and wind conditions must have been perfect for the sound to occur the way it did. A real eargasm!
Fuel Over Pressure Protector. A valve to let fuel out if the tank is overfilled. These need little holes in the bottom of the wing for them, and the airflow over these holes creates turbulence that makes the noise you hear. Similar to how blowing over the top of a glass bottle makes a sound.
I only see this sound on a320 family not NEO ones (currently i see on A319 and A320 200 of Latam Airlines Brasil overflighting close to my house to land in an brazilian airport called Santos Dumont , in state of Rio de Janeiro.

Yeeeahh!! Maybe I should make an edit😉
Fopp makes a perfect impression on the idle sound of the Soviet turbofan jet D-30KU mounted on Tu-154 , Il-62M and Il-76
That Rolls Royce IAE V25000 ENGINE.... What a melody...!!!
Oh yes, i love that whistling-sound it makes after it passed over me in this video!
It's not rolls royce. Its a small partner between them, PW, MTU and some other Japanese company.
His point stands. The V2500 was engineered and built predominantly with rr/pw resources, hence the beautiful melody.@@Roboseal2
My POV: I don't see the a320 and I think the earth is being Invaded by UFOS
those sounds feel so nostalgic its really sad that in the future we wont hear this sound ever again
Así de fuerte se debía haber escuchado el FOPP de la primera generación del A320, la serie A320-100
Honestly for me the most nostalgic sound any avgeek has heard
Terrifyingly beautiful sound😍
As a guy who lives in Halim Perdanakusuma flight path, i can confirm i always listen to this
Dude honestly from 0:19 to the end of the video sounds a bit like a air raid siren. Also sounds like a ham radio.
That was brilliant! It sounded like it was taking off during the first few seconds since I heard a buzz
Thank you!!
It sounded like there were multiple FOPP induced howls going on there!
Imagine hearing that at 3am 😬😬
And not knowing what the sound is coming from😬
I thought it could be aliens or monsters
One time I heard it at bedtime and I thought the sound was coming from the plane engines
I do! I hear this 24/7. I live under the main approach route to KEWR, so I hear this very often!
Or thinking it’s an air raid
I remember the old BAC1-11s used to make a distinct sound similar to this coming in over Birmingham as they descended to approach.
Dude i hear these sounds still! Im lucky!!
Nostalgic Sound 🤍✈
0:40 I remember I was in Jamaica I saw the A320 it was so far I still heard the A320 FOPP howl
The best plane sound ever! 😊
just heard this same sound today, it was also a320-232 but at 4500ft and it reminded me of this vid so i came here and comment :D
The FOPP howls over our house are normally quiet, around 5000ft
Sad to see this slowly going away with the neo where I live... those were great days this sound was such a vibe

They need to turn the A320 into a bomber so when it flys towards to its target, all the enemy is going to hear is this monstrosity.
This sound i love it!

Not anymore though because vortex generators have been added just in front of the hole to quiet the sound.@@thekeithfulbarrums
