Dear Brother, Good video as I need. Moreover, I want to learn how to play piano from zero to immediate faster. Please suggest me any ideas or videos. Thank you so much.
Marc. Do you ever do scholarships for your course? I am desperate to learn. I have been trying to learn for the past 10 years and it’s difficult to find videos and courses, at low cost. I have Logic Pro and Sibelius. I have not been able to work for 24 years due to illness, but I have a heart full of music I need to get out there.
So very helpful. Thank you for a very easy to understand tutorial. Can you please continue on this and teach us how to layer different instruments to create a full song? For example, we can start with a piano sheet song, which is the melody as you mentioned and then build the movement, the background and other dynamic elements coming in and out. Maybe recommend how to come up with certain sounds or instruments to use for layering the background, and how to drop off certain instruments so the vocals can come in. Thank you so much!
Hi Mr. Marc Jovani. I enjoyed this video very much. You made a tremendous amount of sense in explaining this concept of composing music. After hear the strings that you used in this video, you made me wonder how a composer would go about adding other instruments in an orchestra to increase the development of the composition. What I mean is how would one know where to put the strings, the horns and the other instruments of the orchestra? Your basic concept of the composing was explained beautifully. You open my mind and just made me wonder how a composer would choose to use other instruments for more expression and development of a composition. Which instruments should be used and what is the correct placements for the various instruments of an orchestral composition? If I have explained my point well and haven’t confused you on what I am trying to say, please give me the name of another one of your videos that will give a better understanding of the point that I wish to learn? I thank you for opening my mind to this composition concept and I wish you continued success with all of your future musical videos and endeavors and I also wish you continued success financially as well. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us beginners. Have a wonderful day and weekend.
Hello, Orrin. When you say “correct placement for various instruments of an orchestral composition,” do you mean score order or do you mean what part of the song are they most effective? Both are essential topics, and the latter takes years of listening to various scores, classical especially. All great composers learn this way. When you begin to listen, keep notes of places you love the sound. Then find the score (Many on TH-cam or IMSLP (or use your ear) to learn what instruments the composer used and how that affected you. Also, if you read music, get a simple notation software like Dorico and write out the section you like for study. Then experiment. First, take the melody and change the instrument. Do you like it? Why? How does it make you feel? Try another, and another, asking the same questions. And try those solo instruments you don’t know about, like bassoon or fluegelhorn or trombone. Play and have fun with all the colors. Be patient and enjoy the process. You will grow! Also, Orchestration Online Facebook Group and TH-cam channel with Thomas Goss are great resources. All that said, if you are looking for a quick, easy way to success, let me know if you find it! LOL Best wishes.
Hey marc this is sameera from Swara Mandal Music Productions. Im a mix engineer of hybrid cinematic music. So i wanted to try mixing orchestral stuff so could you help me by sending some of your stems to help me to experiment..
That's basically the second technique, intuition, combined with trial and error. Go for it if you feel it works for you. What Mark is describing and teaching in this video is notthe only way of doing things, nor is it necessarily how experienced composers go about composing a piece. The goal here is to help beginners compose their first pieces and get the gears turning. Once you dive in, you will mould your own workflow into something that you're most comfortable with.

how do you feel about improvisation until I like something as a method of melody composition?
