Hey, I need some advice on a RAM configuration issue with my new build! Problem: I'm building a new PC with an MSI B650M WiFi Gaming motherboard and I have 4 sticks of DDR5 RAM but there's a mix: - 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6200 MHz (XMP). - 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000 MHz (XMP/EXPO). I know mixing RAM with different speeds and profiles (XMP and EXPO) can be problematic, so I’m trying to find the best way to get them to work together stably. My Proposed Solution: 1. I plan to install only the 6000 MHz EXPO kit first and enable the EXPO profile to let the motherboard automatically set the timings, frequency, and voltage. 2. I’ll note down the settings (timings, frequency, and voltage) applied by the EXPO profile. 3. Then, I’ll install the 6200 MHz XMP kit and disable the XMP/EXPO profiles in the BIOS. 4. I’ll manually input the settings I noted earlier to match the EXPO kit’s configuration. 5. Finally, I’ll run some stability tests to make sure everything works fine with all 4 sticks installed. What’s Your Take Do you think this method will work to achieve a stable setup, or is there a better approach you would recommend for mixed XMP and EXPO RAM on an AM5 motherboard? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Not a chance in hell of getting that lot to work stably I am afraid to say. It is hard enough getting 2 identical sticks to work but four is usually hard or impossible even at non expo speeds ie 4800 or 5200. Is it true that two sticks are better than four? So for example, would it be better to use 2 x 16GB or 4 x 8GB memory sticks? I've been told that 2 is better. Can you explain?
The memory controller is dual channel so two single sticks is better as the controller doesn’t need to share the bandwidth and voltage to drive the extra sticks when 4 sticks are used. Usually two sticks can achieve higher speeds because of this. More sticks usually means lower frequency to get a stable connection

And 16 gb kingstone fury beast 5600 mhz and they work only 2800 mhz what can I do ? when i go on my bios its only says
Xmp/Expo - and i got to choice xmp 1,2,3 or disabled cant find expo channel idk why
Maybe they are not expo certified and the motherboard can’t read the xmp data
@@mikesunboxing what can I do?

Will a 7800x3d work with my 6400 mhz CL 32 ram? I've read that 7800x3d goes unstable beyond 6000 mhz. If I lower the speed to 6000 mhz in the bios what CL timings should I set to make it stable?
Motherboard: Asus Prime X670E Pro Wifi
Ram: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 2x16Gb F5-6400J3239G16GX2-TZ5NRW
try it and see you might be lucky but every system reacts differently so it is a matter of trying and seeing what works for your syste,
Bought 32 gb of ddr5 advertised at 5600. It’s been running at 3200 and when i tried to change it to expo or xmp at 5200 or 5600 I get no video output.
What is the exact model of the ram and what processor is it
Crucial pro ddr5 32gb with Ryzen 7 7800x3d
I just build my pc with motherboard msi b650 tomahawk wifi but I'm having problem with A1 and A2 it doesnt read my RAM only B1 and B2 its working can you help me somehow
could be the tiny pins on the motherboard are not making good enough contact with the chip, maybe remount it and check the mounting force is even and not too tight or loose
U have to put rams on either 1 and 3, or 2 and 4, preferrably 2 and 4 to be further away from cpu heat
Hey Mike... My 2x16 7200 mts ram running in stock 4800mts is giving me bsod even with simple. Tasks like copying file... Please find me a solution. Cpu is 14600kf and mobo is b760 aorus

Any update on this? Did you get it to work?
I have a prime b650m-a ax and asus tells me 5600 mhz is the fastest it can handle so if I buy 6000mhz to see if it works and don't. Can I adjust the settings to make it work?
it is more to do with the CPU memory controller, 6000 should be possible in dual channel mode with EXPO rated RAM
@mikesunboxing thank u ur blessings!
do we need to buy RAM with EXPO ready to be able use EXPO in our motherboard ? how about we use XMP one ? can we enable it also ? and with motherboard, can we run EXPO with any AM5 motherboard ?
EXPO is mostly guaranteed to work on AMD, XMP might work but will be trial and error
@@mikesunboxing thank you for your answer
Hello! Great video. I have a question tho. When enabling the XMP, will your pc fans go crazy? I had this issue on a build a few years ago. I enabled XMP and my fans went full on hardcore mode
XMP used to also increase the memory controller and overall load on the CPU, that should not be as much of a load these days
Memory prices are not too bad now it seems.. so may be a good time to upgrade for more . Too bad itx motherboards are still out of reach..😞
Just bought a asrock h610m itx ac for a little itx project and a 12400 cpu, still on the fence for a itx gpu though
Thank you ,Help me. I can start my PC . ❤️👍
Have fun!
this guy is getting a 5 star review on yelp
Thanks 🙏
What is the expo tweaked?
it matches the full extended SPD DATA from the RAM
Haven't found power down yet on mine, and the manual is TERRIBLE - no BIOS setup info at all
does it have the search icon on the home page of the bios?
@@mikesunboxing Found it buried at a deeper level, changed both from auto to enable. Memory fell back to 4800 but ok after reselecting Expo
Can I upgrade my Asus vivobook go 15 OLED ryzen 3 DDR 5 onboard ram 8Gb to 16 GB??
depends on the exact model number, but likely
Thanks
thanks for watching
My boot time increased after activating XMP profile on my MsI AM5 motherboard.
Used to be like 25 seconds, now it’s 50 seconds
did you enable power down mode and context restore
@@mikesunboxing nop, I will do that tomorrow then.
I just noticed tonight after some days using the XMP profile
@@mikesunboxing I just enabled the context mode, couldn't find the Power down mode.
I use MPG B650 Edge wifi mobo

@@mikesunboxing yeah, I fixed it
I joined the discord server already
I was the one who brought it up earlier
Thanks so much for your input
Wait.... The memory you´re using is 6400MT, and you left it at 6000, why is that ?
if it was on AMD that is the best setting, intel will go much higher
Bought a cpu today the intel 14400f for my msi mortar max wifi board! For the princely sum of 170 pounds!
that sounds pretty good value £205 here
@@mikesunboxingyeah I thought 💭 so as well. But I wouldn’t buy a cpu with less than 10 cores it’s just not worth it!
I was all for this until i heard the 'blie screen of death' now I'm hesitant 😂
Don’t worry with the newer bios revisions on most boards this is very good
@@mikesunboxing is just enabling expo enough or do all the prior settings need to change too? I don't want to go too far into it not knowing how to rectify or catch something not working correctly. I don't need a massive boost in performance but it would be nice to get the full amount of RAM speeds
How To Install DDR5 RAM Into PC & EXPO DOCP XMP BIOS - three alphabets later ... :-) That sticker really messes with the look of the RAM.
